Flagg took a nasty fall after what looked to be a routine play, securing a defensive rebound.

He immediately went down and grabbed his left ankle and had to be helped up from the floor, before hobbling back to the locker room with the help of his teammates.

CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein updated Flagg’s status as it happened.

“Scary scene at the ACC Tournament: Duke’s Cooper Flagg is headed back to the locker room after suffering an apparent ankle injury,” Rothstein posted on X.

The ESPN broadcast then showed him in a wheelchair.

Fortunately, Flagg was able to return to the team’s bench before halftime but was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The NCAA Tournament is less than a week away and Flagg’s status is now up in the air.

It was a good sign that he returned to the bench as fast as he did, while it was clear that the wheelchair was just a precaution.

Duke is presumed to receive a number one seed, but their championship hopes now rely on the health of Flagg’s injured ankle.

March Madness is about the biggest stars scraping and clawing to survive and advance.

Now, the tournament could be without its biggest one.

And that’s a loss for everyone, not just for the Blue Devils.
