Unicorns are rare.

What Travis Hunter does is even rarer.

The two-way college football phenom is set to take his talents to the NFL.

And while there have been numerous conversations around which position Hunter will play, wide receiver, cornerback, or possibly both, he is attending the combine as a defensive back.

On an episode of Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson‘s ‘Nightcap’ on YouTube, the two former NFL stars discussed Hunter and what type of performance he might have at this year’s scouting combine.

Johnson noted that he is excited to see the Heisman Trophy winner with the defensive back group.

He also believes Hunter can break the combine’s most illustrious record: Xavier Worthy’s 4.21-second 40-yard dash, which Worthy set at last year’s combine.

“I like that he’s going in as a DB,” Johnson said.

“It’s going to be nice.

“I’m excited to see him, especially in the drills to see his transition, how smooth he is, him getting in and out of breaks, ball skills, stuff like that.

“I think he’s gonna do very, very, very well.

“And I’m saying when it’s time to run the 40 (yard dash), I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs 4.2.”

Sharpe and Johnson debated what Hunter’s 40-yard dash time would be, but both stated how excited they are to see the talented prospect go through drills[/caption]

“I don’t see him as that fast,” Sharpe said.

“I think high four threes, low four fours. He has too long of a stride to run like that, I think, Ocho.

“You think he got that kind of speed in him? He got that kind of wheels?”

Johnson believes Hunter does.

The Colorado superstar reportedly ran the 40-yard dash in the 4.2s in high school.

The speed is there, the only question is, will it be on display with every eyeball in the NFL world watching?

It was for Worthy.

He set the football world on fire when he blazed a record-breaking 4.21, which helped him get drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round.

He had a solid rookie season, having caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns.

And capped off his first year as a pro with a loss in Super Bowl LIX, but ended on an individual high note, with eight catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns on the sport’s biggest stage.

While Hunter may not top Worthy’s 4.21, he will no doubt leave everyone with something to talk about once the combine concludes.

And those conversations will carry over through the draft and all the way to Hunter’s first game as a pro, with everyone watching whether or not he will play on both sides of the ball.
