Shannon Sharpe once revealed the extreme lengths he goes to in order to keep his oral hygiene in check.
The three-time Super Bowl champion, who has recently elected to ‘step aside’ from ESPN, told Chad Johnson on their ‘Nightcap’ podcast back in 2023 that he brushes his teeth anywhere between seven to 10 times a day.

“I’ve always said if I ever were to come into some money, I’m going to get my teeth fixed,” Sharpe told Johnson during the episode.
“I ain’t gonna have no rotting teeth, I ain’t gonna have no teeth missing.”
The Pro Football Hall of Famer then went into further detail about what a typical day for his teeth might look like.
“Once after I eat after returning home from ESPN, once after my nap before heading to the gym, once I eat after the gym,” he said.
“If I take a nap, I’ll brush my teeth before heading to a meeting or filming Club Shay Shay.
“Come home eat, brush teeth. Shower, relax and brush teeth before heading to bed.”
Johnson then replied: “That’s enough god damn brushing.”
Here’s a standard day of brushing for the former tight end:
- Once when he wakes up
- Once after breakfast, before leaving the house
- Once in the restroom at ESPN studios before First Take begins
- Once after eating lunch
- Once after his afternoon nap
- Once after dinner
- Once before bed
Sharpe later admitted that it had become an ‘obsession’ and that he often goes through a tube of toothpaste each week and changes toothbrush every two weeks.

“That’s my biggest fear, if someone were to tell me my breath stinks,” Sharpe said.
When news of his oral habit first spread, fans couldn’t believe his insane approach to keeping his teeth pearly white.
“The definition of doing too much,” one fan commented.
“Do his teeth have any enamel left?” another asked.
“Anyone that uses Invisalign can relate to this,” a third suggested.
The NFL Hall of Famer, who won three Super Bowls during his playing days with the Broncos and Ravens, is well known for keeping himself him top shape.

Sharpe, a former seventh-round pick, also made seven consecutive Pro Bowls and four first-team All-Pros during his legendary career.
He is widely considered as one of the greatest tight ends ever, alongside players like Travis Kelce and Rob Gronkowski.
Sharpe is currently being sued by a woman for $50 million, alleging sexual assault, harassment, and battery.
He vehemently denies the allegations, and released a statement through his attorney on X denying anything non-consensual happening between him and a woman identified as Jane Doe.
“I’m gonna be open, transparent and defend myself because this isn’t right,” Sharpe said in a recent Instagram video, before confirming his ESPN decision.
