Darts star James Wade has come up with a hilarious cover-up story after he appeared to fart after his Players Championship match.

The 41-year-old took on Callan Rydz in the quarter-finals in Leicester on Tuesday, beating his opponent 6-5.

But the main talking point of the game came after the 11th leg, as he walked over to a table, bent at the legs and let rip.

The moment has unsurprisingly gone viral, with fans cracking every fart joke under the sun.

Taking to X after the match, Wade posted a gif of British comedy Little Britain’s character Sir Norman Fry, a disgraced MP who gives speeches after his numerous wrongdoings.

Giving his own sarcastic explanation of what really happened, he said: “I feel I must address a situation following my run to the semi-finals of PC22 today.

“Footage has emerged of me doing what appears to be a ‘shart’ at the end of one of my matches.

“It was actually the velcro on my new trainers.

“I now consider this matter put to bed as don’t wish to talk about it again.”

Although most people could probably hide a fart with the noise of shoes, Wade may struggle to use that one.

“Smells like b******t,” one fan replied.

A second added: “James, you require, a new pair of shorts.”

While his farts are one of the loudest ever heard during a darts match, Wade, is ranked 18th when it comes to the PDC Order of Merit.

Unfortunately, he was wafted away by Gary Anderson 7-4 in the semi-finals.

Hilariously, Anderson has previously been accused of farting during a game too, but after taking the silent but deadly approach instead.

He was accused of letting one out against Wesley Harms at the Grand Slam in November 2018, but denied it.
