South African Kruyswijz takes over leader board coming to penultimate round | 2025 Magical Kenya Open

2025 Magical Kenya Open (Round 3):

The final round of the DP Tour 2025 Magical Kenya Open will be played on Sunday, 23rd February at the par-71 Muthaiga Golf Course in Kenya’s capital of Nairobi.

Coming to this final round, it is South African professional Jacques Kruyswijk is aloft the rest of the 66 other players who made the cut after round two.

Kruyswijk had a bogey free-third round, scoring 7-under-64 with 7 birdies and 11 par scores.

Overall, the leader has played 14 under, a single shot better than the overnight leader John Parry.

Parry had a troublesome round on day three with level-par score (72).

Another South African, Deon Germishuys is ten-under having played under par for the opening three rounds 68, 68, 67.

Freddy Schott from Germany closely follows suit with 67, 73, 70 (-9) coming to round four.

A total of 67 professionals were successful above the cut line and will partake on the prize kitty of $425,000 (at least Ug.Shs 1.5 billion).

The championship has remained a grey patch for East African players.

None of the players from the region made the treasured cut with the best being Kenyan Riz Charani in the 93rd position with +3 in 36 holes played (69 and 76 gross).

Uganda national team captain Joseph Cwiny-ai finished the second round in the 147th position with 81 and 80 gross scores (+19).

“There are plenty of lessons to take home from this DP Tour Championship. I am humbled to have played it and will reflect upon every opportunity to improve upon my game going forward” Cwinyaa-ai remarked.

US based professional Willy Deus Kitata retired the second round prematurely.

Kitata who had played 6-over-77 during round one did not complete the second round.

The defending champion Darius van Driel also failed to progress to the final two rounds.

The winner is assured of $425,000 (at least Ug.Shs 1.5 billion).

The second placed will earn $275,000 (at least Ug.Shs 1 billion) and the 65th positioned golfer will take home $6,000 (at least Ug.Shs 22 million).
