As the year 2024 comes to a climax, the Fortebet monthly sports awards remains one brand that maintains growth and glowing in equal measure.

Since January 2024, these awards have been consistently held, recognizing the best and finest performers in the various sports disciplines, thanks to the organizers Real Stars Sports Agency and sponsors – Fortebet as well as Jude Colour Solutions.

The month of October awarding ceremony was conducted at Lazo Bar and Restaurant in Kololo on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

Outstanding sportsmen in football, badminton and motorsport were rewarded with plaques and cash.

There was also special recognition to the Kyaggwe Ssaza team officials for the sound leadership of guiding their team to the first ever final in the Buganda Kingdom masaza football tournament.

Football:

Vipers and Uganda Cranes playmaker Allan “Jolly” Okello smiled with the accolade.

Okello’s good form witnessed him record two assists for the Uganda Cranes team.

He also scored a brace for Vipers in their 2-1 home win over Police during the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Okello beat off competition from on-fire Mbarara City forward Seiri Arigumaho and Kawempe Muslim goalkeeper Josephine Nambuya.

Motorsport:

Mike Mukula Junior won the accolade in motorsport after the recent brave performance in the 2024 FIA Africa Rally Championship where he is currently second with 47 points on the leaderboard, the best Ugandan thus far behind Kenya’s Karan Patel (140 points).

“This is humbling to be recognized. I thank the entire team for this performance and I promise to perform well in remaining events” Mukula Jr remarked.

He beat off stiff competition from Jas Mangat and Ronald Ssebuguzi.

Mangat is third on the ARC leaderboard with 28 points.

Badminton:

Augustus Owiny won the Badminton accolade. The Victoria University student was outstanding in the East Africa City Tyres Badminton Challenge.

“I am happy for this award and I thank the organizers who have managed to reward me. I thank my coaches and teammates as well” Owiny stated.

He won over Tracy Naluwooza and Fadilah Shamika Muhammed.

Meanwhile, the Kyaggwe Ssaza team officials were feted for guiding their team to the first ever Masaza Cup final (against Buddu).

David Katono Mutono (head coach), Greg Kikomeko (secretary), Hon, Steven Serubula Kinaalwa (chairperson organizing committee) and the chief Vincent Matovu Bintubizibu (Ssekiboobo) were all rewarded with plaques.
