Squash player-cum-coach Kawooya now aspires for Diploma in sports management

After attaining a certificate in Sports Administration from the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), three-time Uganda Commonwealth representative Michael Raymond Kawooya has now set his eyes onto the elevating to the Diploma status in sports management.

“I thank God for completing the certificate in sports administration. It is a dream come true and I now look forward graduating to the diploma in sports management” he remarked.

Kawooya has represented Uganda at three Commonwealth Games in 2014 (Glasgow, Scotland), 2018 (Gold Coast, Australia) and lately in 2022 (Birmingham, United Kingdom).

He was among the different sports personalities from the various sports federations who attended the Sports Administration course in Jinja city last year.

He was the first player-cum-coach to attend such a course on national level as he now eyes a career in management and administration when he finally hangs up the rackets.

Kawooya is also a Level 1 and 2 Squash coaching expert with certification.

The pool graduated with certificates at the Uganda Olympic Committee headquarters in Lugogo on 14th February 2025.

A number of sports administrators in Uganda have undergone special training at Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) under the Olympic Solidarity program.

Courses in sports administration and management have benefited the different sports federations and associations in the day-to-day management of their in-house affairs as well as personal career growth.
