2025 KV Pool Arena Invitational pool tourney

Men:

  • Final: Ibra Ssejjemba (Uganda) 11-01 Kelvin Nkandu (Zambia)
  • ThirdPlace: Simon Lubulwa (Uganda) 07-05 Ibra Kayanja (Uganda)

Ladies:

  • Final: Marion Kisakye (Uganda) 07-01 Rashidah Mutesi (Uganda)
  • ThirdPlace: Rukia Naiga (Uganda) 06-02 Victoria Namuyanja (Uganda)

2025 is here. It is a virgin year with fresh ideologies, new people and new projects.

In the sports spheres, particularly Pool, the KV pool Arena Invitational tournament marked the official start of the pool programs for the year 2025 in Nyendo, Masaka city.

Two national team players Ibra Ssejjemba and Marion “Ankah Sheilah” Kisakye potted to success.

The two players won in scintillating fashion to claim the top honours in a championship that was graced by the top 16 males and 12 females.

Ssejjemba humiliated Zambia’s top seed Kelvin Nkandu 11-01 in a one-sided finale.

The victor earned Ug.Shs 2,300,000 (Ug.Shs 300,000 was additional by Bob Trubish, the pool association of Uganda president).

Nkandu earned Ug.Shs 1,000,000.

 The third-place play-off was won by Simon “The Computer” Lubulwa 7-5 over Ibra Kayanja. Lubulwa earned Ug.Shs 600,000 for the third place finish.

In the ladies’ finale; the reigning Uganda Open national champion Marion Kisakye won 7-1 over Rashidah Mutesi.

Kisakye earned a cash prize of Ug.Shs 800,000 (Ug.shs 200,000 was additional by Bob Trubish, the pool association of Uganda president).

Mutesi’s biological sister; Rukia Naiga beat Victoria Namuyanja 6-2.

This tournament was purely invitational and played on a rare group phase format with four groups for the men and women with progression to the quarter finals, semifinals and final.

It attracted some of the best in the country including Caesar Chandiga, Joseph Kasozi, Glorious Ssenyonjo, Mitchelle Nandawula, Angela Busingye, Juliet Namuhanga and two Zambians Moses Mofya and Kelvin Nkandu.

“Having such a successful tournament in Masaka city rhymes within the guidelines of Pool Association of Uganda as we look to fit within the new law and especially the transition into a federation whose major parameter is 75% coverage of the country.” Bob Trubish, president for Pool Association of Uganda (PAU).

The KV Pool Arena has now marked four years since inception.
