Sam Ssenyonjo scored in the second half to break Mbale Heroes on their return to the premier league as they suffered a 2-1 loss to Express at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo.

Following a goalless first half that was dominated by the league newcomers, Ssenyonjo broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with an easy tap in after good work by substitute Alpha Ssali down the left flank.

He doubled the lead in the 84th minute beating the offside trap to slot home before Davis Sekajja cut the lead with a strike in the 87th minute.

In an event filled clash, Mustafa Kizza penalty in the first half while at the death, Pius Kaggwa was denied a leveller as his long-range shot hit the bar.

Express visit Vipers on Thursday at Kitende while Mbale Heroes will host champions SC Villa on Sunday.
