Special recognitions, plaques, trophies, certificates and other awards are intended to motivate as well as appreciate the respective recipients at hand.
The aforementioned were in abundance at the 2024 Corporate Games awards night held at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi in Kampala on Friday, 13th December.
Players and other company staff, officials and management for the various companies were “dressed to kill” to celebrate, network, dine and wine together.
Following an action-packed season that witnessed competition in football, netball, basketball, chess, athletics, volleyball, chess, swimming, cycling and woodball; the D-moment to reward the exceling teams and personalities was much awaited.
St Francis Nsambya Hospital won the overall trophy with SCD Darling and Total Energies as the first and second runners up respectively.
Other awards:
Ministry of Internal Affairs was rewarded with the chairman’s award; Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board took the rising star award and Uganda Security Printing Company smiled with the best MDA award.
The best private sector award was won by Absa Bank Uganda, Judiciary Uganda (Spotlight award), betPawa Uganda (Impact award), Uganda Heart Institute (Leadership award), National Building Review Board (Sportsmanship award), Pearl Farm Dairies (Team spirit award), NEC Uzima Limited (best partner award), State House (Breakthrough performance award), Uganda Baati Limited (Inspirational team award), Airtel Uganda (Team of the year) and Cresttanks Uganda (Champion of diversity and inclusion).
The manager of the year award was claimed by Uganda Heart Institute as Jesa Farm Dairy Limited won the employee engagement award, Uganda Airlines (People’s choice award), Uganda Industrial Research Institute (best team performance award).
Individual sports:
St Francis Nsambya Hospital were the football and chess kings, UMA won Basketball, SCD Darling took Netball, Cycling and Swimming, PKF was unstoppable in Volleyball and Athletics, Uganda Medical Association (Basketball) whilst Price Waters Coopers championed woodball.
Some of the special guests who graced these awards included Jeniffer Bamuturaki (CEO Uganda Airlines), Joe Kigozi (Deputy CEO Next Media), Maj Edgar Ankwasa (General manager NEC UZIMA Limited), Denis Mudene (CEO, Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board) and Allan Tumushabe (CEO betPawa Uganda).
Kigozi was the chief guest at the 2024 Corporate Games awards dinner.
2025 Games looming:
Moments after the awarding ceremony, the organizers utilized the platform to unveil the 2025 Corporate Games.
“We thank in a special way all the companies that have played in the 2024 Corporate Games. We applaud the media, partners and sponsors, officiating officials, venue owners and other service providers for the work well-done. Next season will be an opportunity to present the best games in a bigger and better format” Ian Rumanyika, the chairperson of the Corporate Games noted.
The year 2024 also witnessed the first ever Corporate Games run and a couple of Corporate Social Responsibility causes.
