St Lawrence University overcame YMCA 3-1 in group C of the 2024-2025 University Football League (UFL) at the Kavule campus playground.
Ronnie Ziraba, Innocent Matege and Lawrence Mugerwa were all on target for St Lawrence University.
David Ochwo got the consolation for YMCA.
Ziraba scored the opening goal, thanks to Julius Kalanda’s donkey work in the 18th minute as the hosts took a slim 1-0 lead in the first half.
Two minutes unto restart of the final stanza, Matege doubled the lead with Lawrence Mugerwa assisting.
YMCA pulled back a goal through Ochwo on the hour mark, Ashiraf Lugyya assisting to set up a tense finish to the game.
Mugerwa put the game beyond the reach of YMCA with a last minute goal to seal the victory for the hosts.
St Lawrence University now has 7 points from 4 matches, two ahead of YMCA in group C.
Meanwhile, action continues on Thursday, 13th February 2025 with a group D duel between Kampala University (KU) and visiting Gulu University at the YES Center in Nsambya, Kampala.
