Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich predictions
All eyes in the world of German football are on the upcoming Champions League last-16 tie between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, the first leg of which is scheduled for next Wednesday,
Before then, there is a full round of Bundesliga fixtures taking place this weekend. Leverkusen go to Eintracht Frankfurt in the late game on Saturday, by which time they will already know the outcome of Bayern’s trip to Stuttgart on Friday night.
A home win at the MHPArena would give Leverkusen renewed hope in the title race, but as things stand it is hard to see Xabi Alonso’s side claiming the prize for a second year in a row.
The gap between the two teams stands at eight points. Leverkusen had the chance to narrow the margin to five when Bayern visited the BayArena the weekend before last, but Vincent Kompany’s team scraped a 0-0 draw to remain overwhelming title favourites.
Despite that, it is still hard to work out just how good this Bayern team is. They were poor in that stalemate against Leverkusen, after which they underwhelmed in a 1-1 draw with Celtic in the Champions League.
They have definitely been the most consistent team in the Bundesliga across the campaign as a whole, but many of the other heavyweights in the Champions League will consider Bayern to be eminently beatable.
In fairness to the Bavarians, they were much better in their most recent outing, a 3-0 triumph over Frankfurt last weekend. Even with Harry Kane absent, Kompany’s team dominated the side ranked third in the league.
Can they repeat the trick against Stuttgart? This is an away game rather than a home one, although Stuttgart have not been quite as impressive as Frankfurt this season.
They did finish above Bayern in 2023/24, though, thanks in part to a brilliant 3-1 victory over them in May. Stuttgart will not end this season higher than the league leaders, but they will hope to beat them at home once more.
As for Bayern, it is important they do not look too far ahead. The Champions League double-header against Leverkusen is undoubtedly huge, but they must not give Alonso’s men any cause for optimism by losing at Stuttgart and allowing them back into the title race.

Stuttgart vs Bayern Munich betting tips
Will Bayern Munich take another step towards the Bundesliga title on Friday night?
Bayern Munich -1.5 Asian handicap
Stuttgart are seventh in the standings as we enter matchday 24.
Sebastian Hoeness’ side remain in the mix for Champions League qualification, with just three points separating them from Freiburg in fourth place.
If they are to get over the line, though, they could do with tightening up at the back. Stuttgart have gone five games without a clean sheet and have won just one of those encounters.

Bayern Munich know how to take advantage of defensive weakness better than anyone in Germany’s top tier.
A victory by a two-goal margin is well within reach for Bayern – and these odds are very attractive.
Go for Bayern Munich with a -1.5 Asian handicap at 6/4 with SBK
Harry Kane to score any time
Jamal Musiala is a doubt to face Stuttgart, his hometown club, after both he and Joshua Kimmich were forced off against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Kompany will not want to take any risks ahead of the Champions League last-16 tie, so Musiala is unlikely to feature here.
On the other hand, Kane is in line to return to the XI after a minor calf problem. The striker likes to play whenever he is fit and he will be itching to get back on the scoresheet.
Kane is having another fabulous season at the Allianz Arena, even if he has been criticised by the German media at times.
Ultimately, though, a return of 21 goals in as many Bundesliga games speaks for itself.
Choose Harry Kane to score any time at 7/4 with bet365
Jeff Chabot to be booked
Stuttgart rank fourth for possession in the Bundesliga this season, but they will have a minority share of possession against Bayern Munich, who are top of the charts for ball control.
It is not a hard and fast rule, but the teams that commit more fouls tend to have less of the ball. Bochum, who are 17th out of 18th for possession, lead the way for fouls per Bundesliga game.
So with Stuttgart set to be on the back foot for most of this match, do not be surprised if their physical centre-back Jeff Chabot has his name taken by the referee.
As mentioned above, Kane is expected to return to the starting XI here. That means Stuttgart’s defence will be severely tested by the England international and others.
Bear in mind, too, that only three players in the league have received more cards than Chabot this season.
Tip Jeff Chabot to be booked at 2/1 with Tote
