Stuttgart vs PSG predictions
A stirring comeback against Manchester City last week kept Paris Saint-Germain alive in the Champions League, but the job is not done yet.
Things were looking pretty bleak for PSG after they went 2-0 goals down to Pep Guardiola’s team on matchday seven. But Luis Enrique’s side stayed calm and stuck to the game plan. In the end, they fully deserved their 4-2 victory.
That success lifted PSG up to 22nd in the 36-team standings. A top-eight finish is out of reach, but PSG can still end the league phase between ninth and 16th, which would see them seeded in the play-offs.
Alternatively, a finish between 17th and 24th would leave them unseeded in the set of two-legged fixtures set for next month. Any lower and PSG would crash out before the knockout phase.
All three outcomes are possible. The pleasing thing for PSG is that their fate is in their own hands. A victory on Wednesday would secure a play-off berth, whether seeded or unseeded.
Stuttgart are in the same situation. They rank 24th in the standings, so there is little margin for error. But a win here would send either team through to the play-offs.
This is not an easy game for PSG. Stuttgart finished second in the Bundesliga last term. That was not a one-off either: Sebastian Hoeness’ charges are currently fourth and in a decent position to qualify for next season’s edition of the Champions League.
A top-eight finish was always going to be tough for PSG given the draw they were handed. Luis Enrique’s team have had to do things the hard way, facing the likes of Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Arsenal in the league phase.
Results have been mixed up to now, but it would be a mistake to write PSG off in this competition.
Ten points clear at the top of Ligue 1, they will be able to focus on the Champions League provided they get through this week. New signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be eligible from the play-offs onwards and reduced expectations at the Parc des Princes should help this young team.
For now, though, PSG must ensure they are fully focused on Wednesday’s duel with Stuttgart, which will not be easy by any means.

Stuttgart vs PSG betting tips
Both VfB Stuttgart and Paris Saint Germain are fighting for a place in the Champions League knockout phase play-offs.
Draw – 7/5
There are bound to be numerous twists and turns on Wednesday night and several teams will be regularly checking on scores from elsewhere.
Stuttgart and PSG at least know that a victory at the MHPArena would put their play-off position beyond doubt, but a draw may well end up suiting both sides.
That is not to say the two teams will engineer a situation whereby they share the spoils.

That would be particularly risky for Stuttgart. The German outfit would drop out of the top 24 with a draw if Manchester City beat Club Brugge and both Benfica and Sporting CP avoided defeat.
Nevertheless, we anticipate a close game between Stuttgart and PSG, both of whom have 10 points after seven matches.

Under 2.5 goals
The stakes are high for both Stuttgart and PSG, so do not be surprised if there is an element of nervousness in their performances.
Neither team will want to take undue risks even though a win would send them through. Avoiding mistakes will be the principal order of the day for both managers. That could produce a cagey encounter, particularly early on.
Another thing to bear in mind is that the incentive for either team to score could reduce as the match wears on.
For instance, if the score is 0-0 or 1-1 after an hour and results elsewhere are set to send the duo through, Stuttgart and PSG will be happy to keep things as they are.
Considering the wider circumstances, this wager represents good value.

Ousmane Dembele to score any time
For all his undoubted talent, Ousmane Dembele is a frustrating player.
Even at the age of 27, his decision-making is still not as reliable as it should be. And although Dembele is strong with both feet, his end product can leave a lot to be desired.
On his day he is electric, though, and he only needs two more goals this season to set an all-time career high tally in all competitions.
The France international has been particularly prolific of late, finding the back of the net eight times in his last six appearances.
Dembele did not start against Manchester City last time out, but he scored after coming off the bench and should be in the XI on Wednesday.
