Table Tennis: Uganda’s Sebatindira successfully defends U-13 World title

WTT Youth Contender (U-13) Championship:

Finals:

  • Joseph Sebatindira (Uganda) 3-1 Alexander Malov (Spain)

Semi-final:

  • Jayden Chen (England) 0-3 Joseph Sebatindira (Uganda)

[03-11, 06-11, 04-11]

Quarter-final:

  • Chow Kai Lun (England) 2-3 Joseph Sebatindira (Uganda)

[11-05, 08-11, 05-11, 11-09, 09-11]

Joseph Sebatindira successfully defended the World U-13 Table Tennis Title with a 3-1 victory over Spain’s Alexander Malov in Vila Real city, Portugal.

This was during the 2025 WTT Youth Contender in the U-13 age cluster.

Malov claimed the first set 11-04 with the young Ugandan fighting gallantly to win the remaining three sets.

Sebatindira make it 1-1 with a 11-09 triumph in the second set. During the third set, the aggressive young Ugandan make it 14-12 to take the lead 2-1.

In the third set, Sebatindira made it 11-09 to win the contest 3-1 and reclaim his title.

During the semi-final, Sebatindira smiled past England’s Jayden Chen 3-0; claiming all the three sets 03-11, 06-11 and 04-11.

This had come after a nail-biting 3-2 win overChow Kai Lun (England).

Chow won the first set 11-05; with Sebatindira equalizing 1-1 (11-05).

Sebatindira again trailed 1-2 after Chow won the third set 08-11.

The Ugandan attacked vigorously to win the remaining two sets; 11-09 and 09-11.

On Wednesday, 19th February 2025, Sebatindira who is coached by Alvin Katumba will commence his defence of the U-11 world title.

In the U-11 boys singles, he is pooled in group 1 with two Portuguese players Francisco Romualdo and Santiago Diao.
