ITV are broadcasting three Flat races live from Doncaster on Friday and the official going is likely to be a mixture of soft and good to soft come post time.
The action begins with some well-bred juvenile fillies taking each other on in a Class 2 maiden up the Straight Mile. A Class 3 Handicap up the Straight Mile and the feature Class 2 6f Sprint Handicap completes the action.
Our expert, Floyd Mason, has studied the form and come up with a selection in each contest.

2.08 Doncaster – Queen Of Thieves
2.43 Doncaster – Rajapour ew
3.18 Doncaster – Magical Spirit ew
2.08 Doncaster – Queen Of Thieves
Eight juvenile fillies are set to go to post for the Class 2 Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
From the four fillies to have already run, the David Menuisier-trained Janey Makers, a daughter of New Bay, sets the form standard with a Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 75 registered for her respectable debut third of eight over a mile on good to soft ground at Yarmouth earlier in the month. Oisin Murphy continues in the saddle and she is likely to take a step forward from that initial effort and get right in the mix once again.
However, based on the breeding of a couple of her opponents from significant yards she may prove vulnerable.
Wonder Star is a daughter of Sea The Stars representing William Haggas with Tom Marquand on top. She is a half-sister to the useful 7f-1m winner including as a juvenile Wanees from the family of St Leger winner Masked Marvel.
The selection Queen Of Thieves is a daughter of Frankel, representing John and Thady Gosden. She is a full-sister to the high-class 1m-1m4f winner including as a juvenile Cracksman.
The Gosdens are 7-35 (20%) in the past fortnight and 6-27 (22%) with their juvenile runners at Doncaster.
2.43 Doncaster – Rajapour ew
Admittedly, the next suggestion Rajapour is highly speculative based on recent evidence, but dismissive quotes of around 40-1 should be snapped up each-way when considering the full picture.
The four-year-old Almanzor gelding is representing David O’Meara in the Class 3 1m Handicap, and is one of three entries for the yard.
The selection was making his debut for O’Meara after a four-month break when finishing sixth of nine in a Class 3 1m1f handicap at Hamilton on soft ground last month.
He was previously trained by Jean-Claude Rouget in France, winning three times from 7.5f-1m on good and soft ground as a juvenile at Deauville and Chantilly including in Listed company.
In the spring of 2023, he achieved a peak RPR of 105 when reaching third in a heavy-ground Longchamp Group 3 contest behind the subsequent French 2,000 Guineas fourth American Flag.
Rajapour features off a mark of 89 on Friday, has underfoot conditions in his favour and is clearly capable of outrunning his odds, if taking another step back in the right direction following another four weeks to acclimatise to his new relatively local surroundings in Upper Helmsley.
3.18 Doncaster – Magical Spirit ew
Finally, double-figure quotes may underestimate the decent each-way claims Magical Spirit possesses, when representing Kevin Ryan in the feature nine-runner Class 2 6f Sprint Handicap.
The eight-year-old is a combined 5-20 on good to soft or soft ground and 3-7 on this course including when winning this race back in 2021 from a 3lb higher mark.
He registered an RPR of 99 when winning over this course-and-distance in April and this late prize has likely been the target ever since. He should be in the mix once again off 89 on Friday.
