Natasha Jonas and Lauren Price compete to unify the WBC, IBF and WBA welterweight world titles at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday and it promises to be an entertaining contest.

Jonas brings WBC and IBF titles to the ring, while Price is the WBA belt holder, but the two fighters are at opposite ends of their careers.

The unification bout is the headline on an all-women’s card from London’s historic Royal Albert Hall and we have a selection to enhance the action.

Natasha Jonas v Lauren Price tips

  • Lauren Price to win by stoppage @ 7/2

Price is right for a stoppage success

Natasha Jonas has enjoyed an excellent career, which has seen her become a two-weight world champion and do battle with Katie Taylor, Terri Harper and Mikaela Mayer among others.

The Merseyside fighter is the current WBC and IBF welterweight world champion, but all good things come to an end and the 40-year-old could find a bout with Lauren Price a step too far at this stage of her career.

There is no doubt that Jonas brings more experience against a better level of opposition to the ring on Friday night, but there may not be enough left in the tank for her to see off a progressive and impressive performer at the Royal Albert Hall.

Jonas did get the better of the capable Mikaela Mayer last year, but another 13 months have ticked by since that success and the 40-year-old was the beneficiary of an extremely generous decision from the judges on that occasion.

The Merseyside fighter impressed when pushing Taylor all the way in 2021, but that was four years ago and there are no guarantees of Jonas being able to reach that level of performance again on Friday night.

Price is an impressive and unbeaten performer, who has already captured a world title. The Olympic middleweight gold medallist from the Tokyo Games in 2020 looks capable of becoming an elite-level performer in the professional ranks and this fight looks to come at the right time for the Welshwoman.

The Newport-born boxer has contested only eight bouts so far in the paid ranks, but Price demonstrated her talent when dismissing Jessica McCaskill last year and the 30-year-old is a seriously talented fighter.

Price has been able to register only two of her eight victories by stoppage, but offers of 7/2 about her delivering a knockout success on Friday night look a little on the generous side.

She has the speed, skill and accuracy to dominate her 40-year-old opponent, and the accumulation of punches, and inability to fire back, could have a destructive effect on Jonas.
