There are no fewer than four belts up for grabs when Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano meet in a rematch on Friday, as part of the Jake Paul v Mike Tyson bill.

Many boxing experts feel this fight, for the IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO world super-lightweight titles, should be the main event and it promises to be another thrilling clash.

Texas showdown could see Serrano hit back

The first fight between Taylor and Serrano was the first ever women’s bout to headline the bill at Madison Square Garden in New York.

That April 2022 fight was a classic, named Fight of the Year by Sports Illustrated, but many felt the split decision was the wrong call by the judges.

The Bray Bomber was hurt in the fifth round and Serrano looked likely to take the victory, only for Taylor to fight back and retain her titles.

The judges scored it 94–96, 97–93 and 96–93, with the Irish fighter making it 21 wins in 21 fights, but the decision will have left a bitter taste for the Puerto Rican.

In the build up to the rematch, Serrano warned Taylor that “this time it is going to be a lot different”, with ‘The Real Deal’ winning her next five fights following that Big Apple defeat.

The 36-year-old revealed that she had hired a nutritionist prior to her last fight against Stevie Morgan, and the feeling is we will see an even stronger Serrano in the rematch.

The two fighters are evenly matched across height and weight, but Southpaw Serrano is two years younger than her opponent, which could be key if the fight goes all the way again.

Taylor has the guts to battle to the end

Serrano has won 31 of her 47 victories by knockout, although the majority of those successes were against fighters that are not in the class of Taylor.

KT has lost just one of her 24 fights and that was her first professional bout in her homeland, losing on points to Chantelle Cameron in Dublin in May 2023.

However, Taylor turned the tables on the Englishwoman last November, defeating her in the rematch, also at the 3Arena in the Irish capital.

Although Taylor hit the canvas in the first round, that was deemed a slip by the referee and she went on to win a majority decision.

The Irish fighter is certainly showing no sign of hanging up her gloves and has indicated that she would be keen to fight Cameron for a third time, following the Serrano clash.

The fans at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington will no doubt witness two extremely strong fighters going toe-to-toe for 10 rounds and it would not be a surprise to see it go the distance again.
