Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will battle it out for the undisputed light-heavyweight crown as the headline act on a super Saturday card from Saudi Arabia.

Beterbiev has won all of his 23 professional bouts and brings the WBC, WBO & IBF light-heavyweight titles to the ring, while Bivol has put together an impressive 20-0 record and will be hoping to add to his WBA strap.

The undercard features Chris Eubank Jr, Ben Whittaker, Jai Opetaia and a British heavyweight title rematch between Fabio Wardley and Frazer Clarke.

Bivol can boss undisputed clash

Beterbiev is an undefeated WBC, WBO & IBF light-heavyweight champion, who has won all of his 23 professional bouts by stoppage and is seemingly an unstoppable force.

However, the Russian-born boxer now faces the toughest test of his career at what has to be a time beyond his peak.

The 39-year-old has fought only three times since beating Marcus Browne in 2021 and there aren’t a huge amount of miles on the clock, given Beterbiev has never been taken the full distance in a fight.

However, there were signs that he was slowing in a 2023 clash with Anthothy Yarde, before Beterbiev’s power made the breakthrough.

A last-time-out success over former super-middleweight world champion Callum Smith reads as acceptable form, but Mundo has achieved little at 175 pounds and the Merseyside man’s last piece of credible winning form came when beating John Ryder in 2019.

Beterbiev now takes on an elite-level and genuine light-heavyweight in Bivol, who is a difficult fighter to hit.

The 33-year-old has the skill, movement and conditioning to keep Beterbiev at bay and the Tokmok boxer could make his 39-year-old opponent look like an aged fighter.

Clearly, it’s a tough test for Bivol too, who will have to avoid the power and pressure of his opponent, but offers of 8/11 about the Kyrgyzstan-born boxer walking away as the undisputed light-heavyweight king are worth taking.

Bivol can shutout aged rival

Bivol has won nine of his last 10 fights by unanimous decision, and while this is clearly a contest against an excellent champion, the 33-year-old looks a bet to extend that run.

If Bivol is able to make Beterbiev miss and withstand that pressure then it could be a shutout victory for the WBA champion.

Beterbiev’s best hope will be to catch the Tokmak man with power shots, but Bivol will be well aware of the danger his opponent will pose and it’s likely he will look to keep the bout at range.

Bivol is without doubt the technically superior fighter and that is likely to catch the eye of the judges.
