Max Verstappen holds a 59-point lead at the top of the F1 drivers’ championship standings but the Red Bull ace would be forgiven for looking nervously over his shoulder ahead of Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.

Lando Norris continues to nibble away at the Dutchman’s lead in the title race after the Brit produced a superb performance to pass Verstappen on his way to finishing fourth at last weekend’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, having started 15th on the grid.

And Norris looks to the man to beat at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend following his brilliant showing in Baku.

Lando Norris to win @ 7/4

It was a gutsy display from Norris in difficult circumstances in Baku last week, when he battled his way through the field to finish a respectable fourth.

The Bristolian looks capable of building on that performance at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, a race he finished runner-up in last season.

Surprisingly given his dominance of the sport in recent seasons, world champion Verstappen has never won at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

And there was little evidence in Azerbaijan that the Red Bull star will claim the chequered flag in Singapore on Sunday, so Norris looks decent value to land his third win of the season and further chip into Verstappen’s championship lead.

Carlos Sainz podium finish @ 11/10

Ferrari ace Carlos Sainz walked away from Sunday’s race in Baku with nothing to show for his efforts after colliding with Sergio Perez’s Red Bull with only two laps remaining.

It was a frustrating end for Sainz and Perez in their battle for third place so the pair will be eager to get back in their cars at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

It’s a track that will hold good memories for Sainz, who won last year’s race ahead of McLaren star Norris.

Sainz was pushing hard for third place in Baku last week and, having previously won in Singapore, the man from Madrid is worth a bet to return to the podium on Sunday.

Sergio Perez top-six finish @ 11/10

Perez can also draw on fond memories of the Marina Bay Street Circuit as the winner of the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix.

The Mexican produced a fine display to take the chequered flag in his Red Bull two years ago, finishing in front of the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Sainz.

Motivated by the disappointment of missing out on a podium place in Baku last weekend, Perez will be eager to get back in his seat and challenge for a top-three place this weekend.

Perez has been consistent for much of the season, claiming seven top-six finishes, and the experienced Mexican looks capable of adding another top-six finish to his collection at a track where he has shone in the past.
