Under 2.5 goals in Sunderland v Leeds @ 31/40

Leeds are clear favourites to win the Championship title this season, but their promotion push hasn’t been all plain sailing in the early part of the campaign.

The Whites have been beaten by Burnley and were held to draws by Middlesbrough, West Brom and Norwich. And while Leeds will doubtless be in the promotion picture come the end of the season, this is not the same attacking unit who scored 81 second-tier goals last term.

Forwards Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Luis Sinisterra left Elland Road in the summer and it is not just personnel who have brought Leeds to a more circumspect approach.

Daniel Farke is a far more pragmatic manager than his predecessors Marcelo Bielsa or Jesse Marsch and that has seen Leeds concede only five goals in their opening eight Championship matches.

On the flip side, Leeds have scored only five goals in four away matches this term and a trip to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland could prove tricky.

The Black Cats were good when beating Derby 2-0 last time out. Regis Le Bris’s men are a perfect four wins from as many second-tier home games and they are yet to concede a goal on their own patch this term.

That record suggests Sunderland can be competitive against Leeds and going under 2.5 goals could be a prudent play on Friday night.

Special of the day

Leganes to beat Valencia @ 13/8

Valencia have been awful on their travels this season, losing all four of their opening La Liga awaydays and conceding ten goals in the process.

Los Che were crushed 3-0 away to Real Sociedad in their latest road trip and their expected goals-conceded figure was a whopping 3.40 in that contest.

Their xG-shipped figure was 3.24 in a 3-0 defeat away to Atletico Madrid and Los Ches had only two shots and xG numbers of 0.08 when losing 1-0 against Athletic Bilbao.

Of course, Athletic, Atletico and Real Sociedad are all superior sides to Leganes, but Los Pepineros have been competitive this term, and Valencia’s numbers on the road are so bad that Borja Jimenez’s men definitely look the bet.

Long shot of the day

Napoli to win to nil vs Como @ 6/4

Napoli have won five of their last six matches, with four of those victories coming without conceding a goal while a clash with Juventus finished goalless.

The Partenopei have kept six clean sheets in eight games in all competitions this term and they next take on a Como side who have found the net only five times in as many Serie A away matches.

Como failed to score when losing at Juve and Udinese and another shutout loss awaits Cesc Fabregas’s side at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
