Monday football tips

Bet of the day – Lazio to win at Cagliari – 10/11

Lazio have lost their last two games, but they remain on course for a great season. The Biancocelesti topped the Europa League table and they head into this weekend’s Serie A games in fourth place.

Meanwhile, Cagliari are 15th in the standings and their poor record against the league’s top sides is a concern going into this clash. The Sardinians have lost at home to each of the top three, alongside a defeat at Lazio. They’ve been able to hold AC Milan to a pair of draws, but their record against the top eight is six defeats from nine, with no victories.

Lazio have won six of their seven clashes with the bottom six and they have won 10 of their last 11 encounters with Cagliari.

Special of the day – Chelsea to win and both teams to score – boosted to 6/4

Chelsea were able to find openings at will in the first half against Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend, but they crumbled after failing to put the game to bed. However, Monday’s clash with West Ham is a very different test.

The Blues are favoured to get the better of a Hammers side who have lost four from six, with the visitors rooted in the bottom half. Chelsea won 3-0 at the London Stadium earlier this season and they should have little trouble picking up three points in this clash.

However, Chelsea’s only clean sheet during their last seven games came against League Two strugglers Morecambe. The Blues have managed one clean sheet in 11 home league matches this season, so take the boosted price on them to concede but still win.

Long shot of the day – Sunderland to win 1-0 at Middlesbrough – 8/1

Sunderland missed a golden chance to chase down the sides above them when they drew 2-2 at home to bottom-club Plymouth last weekend. The Black Cats have had more than a week to mull over that result, with two of their three automatic promotion rivals playing twice in the meantime.

Sunderland are a solid side on the road, boasting the third-best record away from home in the division. They’re also fantastic at the back, while they’ve matched up well against their top-six rivals.

The Black Cats have kept clean sheets at Derby and Burnley in 2025 and they deserved all three points at Turf Moor. Middlesbrough have lost three of their last four and suffered four defeats in nine clashes with the top eight, so Sunderland could well boost their promotion hopes at the Riverside.

Boro lost 1-0 at the Stadium of Light and they’ve sustained home losses to nil against Coventry, Blackburn and Bristol City this season. Take the visitors to edge this 1-0 at 17/2.
