talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Saturday 17 May

The main event on Saturday is undoubtedly the FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester City, but that is not to say there is a lack of top action elsewhere, even with no Premier League games taking place.

The Bundesliga reaches its climax, with an intriguing battle for the top four still ongoing, while there is also the second leg of Wimbledon and Notts County’s League Two play-off tie to enjoy.

Saturday football tips

Bet of the day

Freiburg to beat Frankfurt @ 6/5

There is an opportunity for bedlam in the Bundesliga’s top-four race on the final day, with Freiburg right in the heart of it. If they beat Eintracht Frankfurt they will leapfrog them into third, leaving their victims hoping that Borussia Dortmund don’t find a three-goal swing.

Unfortunately for Frankfurt, Dortmund are facing already-relegated Holstein Kiel on the final day, meaning they should net a few goals. Eintracht, therefore, must avoid defeat at Freiburg, but it seems likely they will fall short on that mission.

Freiburg have been excellent recently, winning four of their last five games and only dropping points against Bayer Leverkusen in that run, and they can secure Champions League football by beating Frankfurt, who have won just six of their 16 games since Omar Marmoush’s January departure.

H2 – Special of the day

Bet Builder: Over 2.5 goals, both teams to score and Ruben Dias to be carded in Crystal Palace vs Manchester City @ 11/1

All eyes will be on Wembley on Saturday and with good reason, as Crystal Palace, who are bidding to land the first major trophy in their history, and seven-time winners Manchester City look set to put on a thrilling FA Cup final.

The pair have a tendency to play out goalfests when they meet, with each of the last four head-to-heads seeing both teams score and those matches producing a total of 21 goals.

That makes over 2.5 goals and both teams to score solid selections for a Bet Builder, especially as that bet has landed in the last two FA Cup finals – both of which City were involved in.

City may well do most of that scoring, with Erling Haaland back in the side, but they will have to be wary of Palace’s deadly counter-attacks.

Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr make up a dangerous front three and could give Ruben Dias, who has picked up four yellow cards in just 25 Premier League appearances this term, a tough time at Wembley.

H2 – Long shot of the day

Wimbledon to win 2-0 @ 9/1

Before we head to Wembley, there will be two teams vying to book their place there for the League Two play-off final when Wimbledon host Notts County at lunchtime.

The Dons picked up a shock 1-0 win in the first leg and will be looking to build upon that on Saturday. Their task has been made a lot easier by a late red card to Notts County star Alassana Jatta in their first-leg victory and they should be able to again shut out the Magpies, who will sorely miss their Gambian goal machine.

Wimbledon won 2-0 when hosting County at Plough Lane just last month and you can get a huge price for a repeat scoreline on Saturday.
