Bet of the day

Villarreal to beat Alaves and BTTS – 9/4

Among the La Liga action this weekend, the Estadio de la Ceramica is the venue as high-flying Villarreal welcome a struggling Alaves side.

The hosts entered the weekend in fourth spot, with a game in hand on the four teams immediately behind them.

Alaves, meanwhile, started the weekend down in 14th place, only four points clear of Las Palmas in the final relegation spot. Alaves have lost five of their six away-day assignments on La Liga duty.

Villarreal are strong favourites but they may need more than one goal to see this out. They haven’t managed a shutout in any of their 11 games in league and cup so far and Alaves have found the net in their last seven visits to this venue.

Special of the day

Under 9.5 Corner in Liverpool vs Aston Villa @ 7/5

There’s a tasty Saturday night clash in the Premier League at Anfield with Aston Villa visiting league leaders Liverpool for a much-anticipated 8pm kick-off.

The Reds have won seven of eight home games under new boss Arne Slot and are hefty favourites to do so again at 2/5, despite facing fellow Champions League outfit Villa.

Slot’s side are a more patient version of what Liverpool were under Jurgen Klopp, with the Dutchman speaking this week of how he has encouraged his players to wait and pick their moment for key passes.

As a result, corner counts have been surprisingly low in some of Liverpool’s games. In recent weeks they have managed just four at Arsenal, eight in the EFL Cup at Brighton and four against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, despite winning 4-0.

In their 10 league games under new boss Slot, the Reds have recorded corner counts as low as one, two and three (twice) already.

Villa, meanwhile, saw just five corners in their trip to Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.

They might not make double figures between them at Anfield.

Long shot of the day

RB Leipzig to win to nil, RB Leipzig Over 4.5 corners & Benjamin Sesko to score @ 8/1 (Match Boost)

Marco Rose and RB Leipzig will be eager for a response after successive losses against Borussia Dortmund and Celtic.

Prior to the 2-1 defeat at Dortmund, they had gone 19 Bundesliga games without a loss and they should get back on track against a Borussia Moenchengladbach side that has lost the last three head-to-heads without scoring.

Benjamin Sesko ended a run of four Leipzig games without a goal by scoring in Dortmund last week and the talented 21-year-old can notch again here.

Leipzig forced eight corners in their midweek loss in Glasgow and should get over 4.5 here to complete this bet.
