Bet of the day
England -2 handicap vs Ireland @ 7/4
Lee Carsley needed a reaction from England following last month’s Greek tragedy at Wembley and he certainly got one as a youthful Three Lions side landed an impressive 3-0 victory in Athens.
At the same time, Ireland landed a win of their own – 1-0 over Finland – but that is where the similarities between the two rivals end, as England are a far stronger outfit than the Bhoys in Green.
The Three Lions won the reverse fixture 2-0 but it really could have been more, with Carsley’s men having 77 per cent of the possession and racking up 16 shots to their hosts’ six in Dublin.
A repeat of that performance could see them cut loose against an Irish side who have lost three of their last four away games to nil.
Harry Kane started on the bench against Greece, suggesting he will be in the team on Sunday. His potency could help England land a big victory at Wembley and it could pay to back the Three Lions to win by three goals.
Longshot of the Day
North Macedonia, Greece, Italy treble @ 197/25
North Macedonia have already secured promotion to Nations League B, but they will still be keen to end a successful campaign on a high by maintaining their unbeaten record with a win over Faroe Islands.
Given the Lynxes have won each of their last four games to nil they look set to do so too. Faroe Islands beat Armenia last time out but they rode their luck massively, managing just two shots to their hosts’ 25, and they may struggle in Skopje.
Greece should have no issues in bouncing back from their 3-0 defeat to England as they take on Finland, who have lost all five of their 2024-25 Nations League games, and they make up the second leg of our treble.
Italy round out the acca as they are fancied to continue their sensational form when taking on France.
Les Bleus were held to a 0-0 draw by Israel on Thursday, suggesting they may struggle against the Azzurri, who beat the French 3-1 in Paris back in September and are coming off the back of a 1-0 away win over Belgium.
Special of the Day
Marko Arnautovic and Benjamin Sesko anytime goalscorers in Austria v Slovenia @ 15/2
Slovenia are currently three points behind Austria in Group B3, but they know a win would see them leapfrog Ralf Rangnick’s men and they could employ a gung-ho approach in Vienna as they search for that outcome.
Benjamin Sesko has scored five of their six Nations League goals and is therefore the likeliest candidate to provide any Slovenian action in Austria.
Marko Arnautovic did not feature in the hosts’ 2-0 win over Kazakhstan on Thursday, meaning he will be raring to go for this clash.
The maverick forward netted twice in Austria’s 5-1 rout of Norway last month – he started on the bench in the game prior to that demolition too – and it would be no surprise to see him net against Slovenia in a clash which could prove to be a thriller.
