Bet of the day
Manchester United to beat Chelsea @ 6/4
Manchester United’s caretaker boss Ruud van Nistelrooy made an instant impact in his first match at the helm, guiding his side to a thumping 5-2 League Cup win over Leicester City, and the Dutchman will be hoping to keep that momentum going for the visit of Chelsea.
The Red Devils are close to announcing the appointment of Ruben Amorim and Van Nistelrooy has revealed he would like to be part of his backroom team, so a positive display against the Blues would go a long way to proving his credentials.
Chelsea lost 2-0 at Newcastle in the cup in midweek, a second away defeat from their last three games in all competitions, and they have been less assured on the road this season having also lost at Servette back in August.
The Blues last triumphed at Old Trafford in May 2013 and that wait for another victory could be extended.
Special of the day
Napoli to beat Atalanta, Millwall and Burnley to draw and Werder Bremen to beat Borussia Monchengladbach @ 16/1
Napoli sit top of Serie A heading into the weekend’s fixtures and they are on a nine-game unbeaten streak in the league, winning their last five in a row.
Antonio Conte’s side have won all seven fixtures at home this term and they should have too much for an Atalanta side who have been unpredictable on the road, with two defeats, two wins and a draw recorded from their last five road assignments.
Millwall and Burnley meet at The Den in the Championship and the duo could share the spoils in a tight contest. The Lions have drawn two of their last four fixtures and the Clarets have been held in three of their last four games.
Werder Bremen to win at Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga rounds off this treble. The hosts are without a win in their last two matches and have tasted defeat at home twice this season.
Visitors Bremen have won all four away contests, scoring 11 goals in the process and have suffered just one loss from their last five games in all competitions.
Long shot of the day
Motherwell to beat Rangers @ 11/2
Rangers already find themselves nine points off the pace in the Scottish Premiership title race and things could get even worse for manager Philippe Clement when his side travel to Hampden Park to face Motherwell in the League Cup semi-finals.
The Gers lost 2-1 at Aberdeen last time out, a second defeat from their last three top-flight games, and Sunday’s contest looks like a prime opportunity for Well to strike.
The Steelmen, who defeated Gers at Ibrox last season, have won three of their last five outings and look capable of booking their place in the final.
