Bet of the day

Mo Salah to score anytime and Liverpool to win @ 15/8

After defeating Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield over the weekend, Liverpool swiftly turn their attentions back to this season’s Champions League league phase, during which they’ve won both of their matches to date.

An impressive 3-1 victory at San Siro against AC Milan on matchday one got their latest major European campaign underway in the perfect manner, before a 2-0 success over Bologna on home turf made it two wins from two as the Reds remained as one of just seven teams in the competition with a 100% winning rate.

Now Arne Slot will take his side over to eastern Germany for another match-up with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, a side Liverpool beat 2-0 in both legs of their Champions League round of 16 clash back during the 2020/21 campaign.

Those two outings formed part of the Reds’ run of suffering just one defeat across their last 10 competition fixtures with German opposition, seven of which have ended in victory.

It’s hard to see past a similar outcome again in this latest clash, especially with Mo Salah leading the line in fantastic form.

After netting the opener against Chelsea on Sunday, the Egyptian has now scored seven goals across his 11 competitive club matches in 2024/25, whilst the fact that he netted the opener in both of Liverpool’s prior meetings with Leipzig highlights him as a likely scorer again in this one.

Special of the day

Galatasaray to beat Elfsborg and score over 3.5 goals @ 21/10

Galatasaray claimed another impressive win over the weekend to remain in top spot in this season’s Turkish Super Lig standings after stringing together a near-perfect start to their latest campaign.

The Istanbul outfit have so far dropped just two points across their opening nine matches of their domestic league season and will now have their eyes set firmly on remaining unbeaten in the league phase of this season’s Europa League.

Swedish minnows IF Elfsborg are their latest opponents and arrive in Turkey on the back of successive Allsvenskan defeats to BK Hacken and IK Sirius, both of which saw the visitors concede 3+ goals in the process.

A similar outcome should be expected in this latest outing as they make the long journey east with just one clean sheet across their last five matches, although that did come in the form of a historic 1-0 win over Roma on matchday two of this competition.

With Galatasaray netting 15 goals in total across their last five home fixtures, a repeat of that success looks unlikely for Elfsborg, especially with the hosts having lost just one of their last 14 games at the Europa League group stage.

Long shot of the day

Correct Score Burnley 1-0 Hull City @ 7/1

With a routine 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, Burnley briefly went back to the top of the Championship before Sunderland retook their early-season lead just 24 hours later.

Nevertheless, Scott Parker’s side have made an impressive start to the 2024/25 campaign, losing just one of their 10 second tier outings so far, as the Lancashire outfit look to make an instant return to the Premier League.

Next up is a trip to Hull City this midweek and with confidence likely very high in the away dressing room, the Clarets will look to extend their recent dominant form against the Yorkside side.

Burnley have won six of their last eight away league games against Hull and additionally, also remain unbeaten in each of their last 20 midweek league games in the Championship.

Their only such match this season finished in a 1-0 win against Plymouth and with visitors keeping six clean sheets already this term, a similar victory and scoreline could follow here.
