Jason Cundy was left stunned as Jamie O’Hara backed Aston Villa to win the Champions League after their remarkable win over Bayern Munich.

In reply to a Villa fan, jubilant after the historic 1-0 victory, stating they will lift another European trophy before Tottenham will, O’Hara said: “If you do fair play.

It appears former Tottenham star O’Hara is an Aston Villa fan this season… in the Champions League at leastGetty

“I’ve got nothing against Villa. I like them as a football club, the fans are great, it’s a huge club. I used to love playing at Villa Park, it’s a great stadium…”

That confused former Chelsea defender Cundy, who questioned why his co-host, and former Tottenham midfielder, wanted a rival Premier League club to lift silverware.

O’Hara doubled down and said: “Spurs are not in it so if I was going to pick any team to win it, yeah Aston Villa. They’re the fourth place team, they haven’t won it in how many years?”

Cundy stood strong in opposition: “I don’t want Villa to win it.

“You make me laugh, right. You don’t hope they go on and win it. You don’t.”

O’Hara didn’t back down: “I don’t want Arsenal win it! I don’t care if City win it. Liverpool, they’ve won it six times!

“If Aston Villa went and got in the finals, I’d be rooting for Aston Villa.”

“I’d rather Brest win it,” Cundy added with a cheeky grin.

“I can put myself in that position. I’ve had those moments. I know what it’s like in the Champions League. There is nothing like it, in your home ground under the lights when you beat a big team.

“Enjoy it, but I don’t want them picking up the trophy – and Villa fans shouldn’t want Chelsea or Spurs or Liverpool or anyone else.”

Cundy couldn’t believe O’Hara was backing another team to win a trophytalkSPORT

Duran came off the bench to score Villa’s incredible winner over Bayern – sparking pandemonium at Villa ParkGetty

The Villa Park faithful experienced an unforgettable moment on Wednesday night thanks to 20-year-old Jhon Duran.

In the 70th minute as a substitute he dinked his shot over Manuel Neuer from 25-yards to score the winner.

The Colombian has been on fire this season with six goals to his name – five of them coming from off the bench.

And his stunning strike to sink Bayern marked the club’s first goal in Europe’s premier competition in 41 years.

Duran is approaching cult hero status despite having only one start this campaign which came in the Carabao Cup win against Wycombe.

Fans are embroiled in debate questioning whether Duran should take Ollie Watkins’ position as their starting centre-forward.

Speaking after the game Emery did not give any clues away.

Commenting on Duran he said: “We are working with him. Most important is his attitude. He’s available to play 90, 60, 30 minutes.

“He’s been focusing each minute he’s playing. Today we had two very good strikers. It’s fantastic for him and the team.”
