Tanda easily overcame Falcon 3-1 during the final of the third Entebbe Christmas Cup played at the Nkumba primary school playground (Kataka) onWednesday,1st January 2025.
Henry Kayemba, Samuel Junior Kawawa and Ivan Bogere scored for Tanda in the interesting final watched by a sizable number of spectators.
Hudson Mbalire got the consolation for Falcon, past Tanda goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekebba.
The winning team (Tanda) was rewarded with a glittering trophy, gold medals and a bull.
Falcon got silver medals and a goat for their effort.
Individual awards:
A couple of awards were given out to the different personalities.
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament was Ashraf Neymar Kigozi (Tanda). Kigozi was also the top scorer with four goals to his name.
Another Tanda player, Muhammed Ssekebba was best goalkeeper.
Tom Kakaire (Falcon) was the most disciplined player.
The best defender was Kirazza, with May Christian’s Muzamil as the most outstanding coach.
Davis Kiggundu was the youngest player of the tournament.
The duo of Yusuf Chippo (Tanda) & Mo Salah were the best managers.
The goal of the tournament was scored by Balikuddembe. The best coordinatorwas Wasswa and Alex Wasswa was the best referee.
The two best fans wereIsaac Mukigga and a one Kimuli.
In the media; the trio of John “Barnes” Kalyango (tournament PRO), David Isabirye (Kawowo Sports), Entebbe’s Finest Bae (social media) were recognized with certificates and medals.
Ramathan Kasirye, the main organizer hints to the benefits from such a tournament as entertainment to the masses and a platform to showcase fresh talents.
“The Christmas Cup 2024 was a successful tournament played for the third time in a row. There was entertainment to the people and a platform to showcase talents which will further be developed” Kasirye remarked.
The tournament was exclusively sponsored by lawyer Derrick Mulumba who provided all the prizes and sets of jerseys given during several matches.
Other partners included Nkumba Model Primary School as well as Awel Tours and Travel.
