Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have backed Jason Kelce after his shock altercation with a football fan.
The older Kelce brother, who retired from the NFL earlier this year, was at Penn State on Saturday, November 2 for a college game when the incident unfolded.
As he was walking through a crowd outside Beaver Stadium, a fan directed a homophobic slur towards Travis, and recorded himself shouting: “Hey Kelce, how does it feel your brother is a f***** for dating Taylor Swift?”
Footage circulating on social media shows Jason grabbing the phone from the fan and slamming it to the ground.
“Who’s the f***** now?” he responds, picking the phone back up and walking off with it.
While the Kelce brothers have not yet officially commented on the incident, a source close to Travis and Swift has revealed their reaction.
“Taylor and Travis were both really shocked by this considering Jason is one of the nicest guys in the world,” the source told the Daily Mail.
“It really became clear how much he loves and respects Taylor. Travis means the world to him.
“The use of the word f***** is not okay with him nor anyone. This fan crossed the line. Jason will never stand for anyone insulting his family and he views Taylor as family now.”
After the footage was shared on social media, Jason also received support for his response.
“I shouldn’t say, but whatever. I appreciate Jason Kelce standing up for his family,” Quinton Lucas, the mayor of Kansas City, wrote on X.
Meanwhile, former NFL wide out Antonio Brown wrote: “I mean good for Jason Kelce. There’s comedy and entertainment. And then there’s crossing line with family.”
Hundreds of other fans also voiced their support on X, responding to the video.
Jason has previously discussed being a big fan of Swift, describing her as “immensely talented”.
“She’s a world star, she’s the quintessential artist right now in the world,” he said back in February.
“[She’s] immensely talented, an unbelievable role model for young women across the globe.
“I think that the NFL would probably be foolish not to show her and be a role model for all the young girls out there.”
Jason’s next public appearance is expected on Monday night, when he heads to Kansas City to call Travis in NFL action for the Chiefs against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on ESPN.
