Aitsaret Noichaiboon saw red and ruined his career in March 2022.

The Thai football player made headlines when he seriously lost his cool during the final moments of a match between Bangkok FC and North Bangkok University FC.

This trip infuriated Aitsaret NoichaiboonAIS PLAY

Noichaiboon – also known as Jay – had his legs clipped by rival player Ruangsuphanimit before what seemed like an innocuous incident turned into international news.

It appeared to be a minor indiscretion from Ruangsuphanimit – but his opponent didn’t see it that way and went charging towards him in a fit of rage.

Noichaiboon unleashed a Muay Thai elbow you’d expect to see in the UFC.

It connected clean on the Bangkok University stars jaw and knocked him out.

In the moments following the shock attack, Ruangsuphanimit remained on the floor as Noichaiboon was sent off by the referee and confronted by several of the stricken player’s teammates.

With an hour of his sending off, Jay was sacked by his club and hit with a lengthy three-year ban, which seemed about right when his victim’s injuries came to light.

“Bangkok FC would like to [take a] stand and not support the action,” Noichaiboon’s team said in a statement.

“The club has cancelled the contract of the player,” Bangkok FC said in a statement.

“The club would like to express our condolences for the incident and will do everything possible to stop this happening again.”

North Bangkok University FC also released a statement that provided an update on Ruangsuphanimit’s condition.

He required 24 stitchesAIS PLAY

It read: “[He] has undergone a physical examination at Bangpakok-Rangsit 2 Hospital after player No 6 of the Bangkok FC club intentionally attacked his face.

“After seeing a doctor, [they] found that the upper lip area has a severe wound. The doctor therefore sewed a total of 24 stitches to cover the wound.

“The club will provide care and responsibility.”

Jay apologised to his opponent three days later when the pair came face to face at a Football Association hearing.

Since then, he’s been fined by police and warned that any further offending within a two-year period will result in a prison sentence.

Noichaiboon reflected on his moment of madness during an interview in March 2023.

“It’s because of a quick temper and I know it is not normal,” Jay told The Athletic.

“He was saying things about my parents throughout the game, and he insulted me a lot until the incident. When he kicked me, the ball had already left the field, and he didn’t apologise.

“I’m sorry for what I did next. Everything happened so fast. I have gained an invaluable experience so I will never do anything like that again. I am trying to do my best every day and live a conscious life.”

“I accept what I did but I still think a three-year ban was too severe. One year would have been right and enough time for me to come back again and show that I have learned from the mistake.

“I am sorry for what I did. If there is a chance to return to play, I will make everyone see that I’m not an aggressive player like in the clip.”
