Jones was beckoned over by the young Evertonian, who asked him for a picture.

The 24-year-old happily obliged and even put his thumbs up, only for the supporter to sing: “Kopites are g********.”

Instead of responding with something unsavoury or worse, Jones laughed along as he walked back to his car.

The cheeky fan did not relent as he served up a two-finger salute in the Liverpool star’s direction and added: “Shut up lad, you little mink. Kopites are g********.”

Despite the continued barrage, Jones could be heard giggling once again at his vehicle.

Jones’ reaction drew plenty of praise from fans on social media.

One fan on X said: “That’s class tbf.”

Another posted: “Fair play to Jones. This is what banter should be about.”

A third wrote: “Fair play all round here. The lad giving it and Jones taking it like he should.”

A fourth added: “Hahaha I love how much Jonesy respect this kid for doing it yeno, what a lad!”

Despite the hilarious encounter, it was Jones who had the last laugh thanks to Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Everton on Tuesday.

Diogo Jota‘s second-half strike was the difference in a controversy-riddled game that left many believing the Toffees should have gone down to 10 men courtesy of James Tarkowski’s tackle on Alexis Mac Allister.

The latest instalment of the Merseyside Derby also saw Jones’ play as a right-back.

Jones deputised on the right side of the back-four as Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley remain sidelined by injury.

But the 24-year-old never looked out of sorts as he won three of his five duels and won possession an impressive six times, a figure bettered only by Ryan Gravenberch.

Jones’ bright performance drew praise from Reds left-back Andy Robertson.

“Curtis was excellent,” Robertson said.

“He played a really good game, he is such an intelligent footballer. We were joking yesterday – he has played left wing, as a No. 10, a striker, a No. 6, a No. 8 and a right-back.

“It shows how intelligent he is, he took the game in his stride. So comfortable on the ball and defended well too.”

Jones and Liverpool will look to maintain their flying form when they travel to Fulham on Sunday.
