The PGA Championship betting preview
There is a lot about this week that feels very familiar because the venue is Quail Hollow, normally the host of last week’s Truist Championship.
It’s a course that suits excellent (and long) drivers of the ball, as such, Rory McIlroy loves the place.
A few years ago he even said that he plays well there “even when I’m not in form”. Throw in his victory in last month’s Masters and we can take it that he’s looking forward to this week.

He won’t be the only one, however.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler landed a first victory of 2025 earlier this month while Bryson DeChambeau ended his run of near-misses with a win of his own on LIV Golf.
We had a sensational Masters, landing the triple crown by tipping Justin Rose to be first round leader at 66/1, Rory McIlroy to win at 13/2, and Patrick Reed (who finished third) to land a top 20 at 21/10

Rory McIlroy to Win
We won’t muck about with this one.
There is, of course, a chance that Rory McIlroy has peaked for the year or might run a little too fast and loose, but this is also a cast-iron opportunity for him to keep the pedal to the metal.
The Northern Irishman has won the PGA Championship twice already and, as noted above, he adores Quail Hollow.
It was the scene of his first-ever PGA Tour victory in 2010, sealed with a blistering round of 62. He carded an even better 61 when winning there again in 2015, and he has won there again in two of his last three visits.

Patrick Reed Each-Way
After finishing third in the Masters Patrick Reed was left cursing his putter, which he felt had cost him a genuine tilt at the title.
It was not the American’s first sign of form, however, because he has four top seven finishes in his last five starts including fourth last time out.
He was also second when Quail Hollow first hosted the PGA Championship in 2017 and has finished top eight there in two of his last three appearances.

Corey Conners for Top 20
Reed was not the only player who left Augusta National cursing himself.
The Canadian Corey Conners was in the top three all week until a final round 75 left him eighth.
He’s got a good record in the PGA Championship, too.
He was the first round leader when 17th in 2021 and the halfway leader when 12th in 2023.
The final piece in the jigsaw is course form and he has that, too, finishing eighth two years ago and 13th last May.

Bryson DeChambeau First Round Leader Each Way
Bryson DeChambeau is not only a social media star, he is also in the form of his life.
In his last five starts, he has never ended a round outside the top five and on five occasions he was the solo leader.
In the tournament, he has finished top four in three of the last four editions, he was the solo first round leader in 2023, and he’s been in the top four in seven of his last eight completed rounds.
He’s delivering sensational driving stats this year and a repeat on Thursday should go a long way to keeping him on the front page of the leaderboard.
