The Valspar Championship 2025 golf betting preview
It’s the final week of the PGA Tour’s Florida Swing and it’s been a good one so far with impressive victories for Russell Henley and Rory McIlroy.
For Henley, it is further proof that he’s sneaking up towards the world’s elite and he might even be able to build on an improving major championship record this year.
For McIlroy, improving his major record is more or less demanded this year after he won “the fifth major” last week at TPC Sawgrass.
If he did win the Masters it could be a great year for him because the PGA Championship takes place on his favourite course (Quail Hollow) and the Open is on home soil (in Northern Ireland).
That’s all for the future, however. This week represents a golden opportunity for Justin Thomas to rediscover the winning touch and Tommy Fleetwood to finally land a PGA Tour title.
Both have great claims, not least because they are in form and have decent records on the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook.
But are they the best bets? Let’s find out.

Sepp Straka Each Way
It’s close to three years since Thomas last won and Fleetwood has those ongoing difficulties getting over the finish line in the States – the heart says yes but the head says not at this week’s prices.
Instead, look to Fleetwood’s Ryder Cup teammate Sepp Straka.
He’s a three-time winner on the PGA Tour, most recently in January.
That result is one of seven top 15 finishes in nine 2025 starts so he’s playing great golf at the moment.
He’s only played the tournament once but on his debut he shared the lead after 18 holes with a 66.
He is also a winner at TPC Deere Run which, like the Copperhead Course, is undulating and four golfers have won have completed the double of winning on both layouts.
Straka can make it five.
Back Sepp Straka at top price 22/1 each way with Betfred
Kevin Yu Each Way
Last year’s winner Peter Malnati was a rank outsider and Kevin Yu isn’t quite so unlikely but his price is mighty tempting.
The 26-year-old was a celebrated amateur and made his PGA Tour breakthrough late last year at the Sanderson Farms Championship which, like this week, was on Bermuda greens.
He’s racked up four top 20s since then with two of them coming in his last four starts.
He’s also played the par-3s well in two of his last four starts and that matters this week because the Copperhead Course has five of them.
Back Kevin Yu each way at a generous 125/1 with Sky Bet
Michael Kim Top 20
Michael Kim is one of the form players on the PGA Tour right now.
He’s finished top 20 in five of his last six starts (and in eight of his last 13).
He’s yet to log one at Innisbrook but he was sixth at halfway last year and he revealed on X that he made a late decision to add this week’s tournament to his schedule.
“I like the golf course and I want to give myself as many chances at qualifying for the Masters,” he wrote.
Bet on Michael Kim at 15/8 for another top 20 with bet365
