Thierry Henry has come under fire for his strange reaction to Christian Pulisic post-match interview on Tuesday.

The United States international opened the scoring for AC Milan in their 3-1 Champions League defeat to Liverpool at San Siro.

Following the match, Pulisic spoke to the CBS Sports panel of Henry, Kate Abdo, Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher to discuss the defeat to Arne Slot’s side.

As is usually the case, Abdo controlled the interview before inviting questions from the panel, however not everyone appeared to be on board.

Carragher and Richards were their usual bubbly selves with the ex-Manchester City defender referring to Pulisic as ‘Captain America’ as he took the microphone.

Summing up the defeat, Pulisic said: “It was a good start to the game to get a goal, but yeah it’s extremely disappointing for us to concede goals like we did in the first half on set pieces. They made it difficult for us all game, so obviously I’m disappointed.”

But the interview took a bizarre turn when Abdo offered Henry the opportunity to speak to Pulisic, only to flat out decline the offer.

The usually energetic Henry, was positioned head down, facing the studio desk and displaying what could be construed as negative body language.

Henry’s blunt ‘no’, was met with an eerie silence before Richards let out a nervous laugh. Abdo then concluded the interview, with an already downtrodden Pulisic appearing confused by the Frenchman’s conduct.

Pulisic was then serenaded as he signed off with Carragher saying ‘well done great start to the season’ before Henry suddenly spouted ‘well done big man, well done.’

The strange episode has caught the attention of fans with some branding Henry’s behaviour as ‘strange’, whilst others described the Arsenal legend as ‘awkward.’

Pulisic has been in fine form for AC Milan despite the Rossoneri’s indifferent start to the season under new boss Paulo Fonseca.

The American has netted three goals in his opening five games and is relishing his time at the Serie A club.

His current form will no doubt please new USMNT boss Mauricio Pochettino who is yet to meet the 26-year-old since taking over.

Pulisic told CBS Sports: “I haven’t seen him yet since he got the job. I’m hoping he’ll be able to turn things around, and I hope things go well.

“It’s great for us to have someone as experienced as him coming in, and I think we have the talent. It’s time to finally have a coach that’s going to take us to the next level.”
