Dana White panicked as Jon Jones and Ryan Garcia met in an unlikely link-up at UFC 306.
Jones hasn’t fought since beating Cyril Gane to become UFC heavyweight champion, but attended the latest pay-per-view event in Las Vegas with a return clash with Stipe Miocic announced for UFC 309.
Garcia and Jones spent time together at UFC 306, to the concern of fans
Also in the crowd was boxing star Garcia, who continued his wild antics, since he was banned from boxing for a year with his win over Devin Haney overturned after failing two drugs tests.
Surprisingly the pair sat near each other at the historic event in the first UFC card at The Sphere, and appeared to get on very well.
The pair danced together, where Garcia even surprisingly threatened to hit the UFC champion with a left hook but tensions remained low.
UFC president White has now reacted to the news, telling media at his post-fight press conference: “Conor are you babysitting?
“Jon Jones running loose and wild in Las Vegas here tonight. They are out tonight, I hope that’s not true.
“Jon promised me tonight he’s going to be good while he’s in Las Vegas so touch wood.”
UFC fans also don’t want the iconic fighter spending time with the boxing star, with one writing: “This ain’t ending well tonight.”
One agreed: “Waking up to their news tomorrow is not going to be great.”
A fan added: “These are the last two who should be together. Crash out alumni.”
One user continued: “Dangerous combo right there.”
White wasn’t overly impressed with the newsGetty
Although a final comment even claimed: “We’re never getting Jones vs Stipe if these two are together.
Others were more optimistic and pleased to see the two together, with a fan commenting: “The duo we didn’t know we needed
One concurred: “F**k the screens this is my favourite thing to come from this event.”
But a fan concluded: “Dana White is not going to like this.”
The pair have had their issues outside of the cage and boxing ring respectively, with Jones having been arrested a total of five times.
But his career is now back on track and he intends to beat Miocic in the cage, in what could potentially be his final bow as a UFC superstar.
Meanwhile Garcia has been subject to huge concern from fans since his wild antics before dropping Haney twice in their fight.
He was regularly seen drinking alcohol, partying and posting bizarre messages on social media, before later admitting he was going to check into ‘rehab’.
‘King Ry’s’ focus still remains on a comeback in the squared circle however, and he has even plotted a return against Teofimo Lopez next April.
The pair watched on as an incredible card unfolded at the new iconic venue, with Sean O’Malley stunned in the main event and dethroned by Merab Dvalishvili.
It reportedly cost the UFC and Dana White $20 million to stage the unique event, where a whole host of combat sports’ biggest names gathered.
