No one has ever had the upper hand over Tom Brady more than Eli Manning.
Apparently that now extends off the football field and into the deep sea.
Brady posted on Instagram a photo dump of him enjoying the sun with the caption, “A little warmer than it looked in Buffalo last night.”
Referencing the Buffalo Bills Sunday Night Football game against the San Francisco 49’ers that was played in a snow storm.
The lead image in Brady’s post was of him holding what appears to be a red snapper.
Manning saw this and wouldn’t let it slide.
The two-time Super Bowl champion then posted a photo of him holding a massive tuna, much bigger than Brady’s red snapper, with the caption, “Cute Minnow, Tom!”
To which Brady then responded, “You use a helmet to catch that one too?”
Of course Brady is referencing one of the greatest plays in NFL history, when New York Giants wide receiver, David Tyree, pinned Manning’s pass to his helmet, on the game-winning drive in Super Bowl XLII.
Manning and the Giants defeated Brady and the undefeated New England Patriots, ending their quest for perfection.
It was one of the biggest upsets of all-time.
Manning then defeated Brady again on the sport’s biggest stage, four years later in Super Bowl XLVI.
For those keeping track, that’s Manning two, Brady zero.
However, Brady was 2-1 against Manning in the regular season, but that’s nothing compared to what Manning has over the greatest football player of all-time.
Brady would no doubt trade those two regular season wins for the Super Bowl wins in a heartbeat.
Of course this isn’t the first time these two friends have exchanged friendly banter.
Back in September, Brady was able to get the last laugh over Manning, when Manning chose to wear a Wrexham shirt ahead of the club’s match against Birmingham.
Birmingham is backed financially by Brady, and it was the English club that were able to best the Welsh club, 3-1.
These two foes to friends, have a lot of history between one another, and if you throw in Manning’s older brother, Peyton, then you have stories to tell for a lifetime between the three.
The younger Manning will ultimately always get the last laugh, but Brady does have five more rings.
Between the two of them, there have been nine Lombardi Trophies raised.
Throw in the elder Manning, and that makes eleven.
Long gone are their epic clashes on the field, as they now look to take it to the deep blue.
They have traded in their helmets and cleats, for fishing poles and bait.
Bigger fish wins.
