Tottenham v AZ Alkmaar prediction

Tottenham hope to claw back the deficit after losing 1-0 away from home in the first leg. An Own goal from midfielder Lucas Bergvall the difference between the sides, with an inspired display from Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario the only thing keeping Tottenham in the tie.

Goals from Pape Matar Sarr and Heung-min Son salvaged a draw for Spurs in the Premier League on the weekend, despite going 2-0 down to Bournemouth, but they remain winless in their last three games.

Spurs head into Thursday’s game without Rodrigo Bentancur, the midfielder is suspended following his yellow card in the first leg. However centre backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven will be welcome returns as both made their first appearances in some months in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw over the weekend.

AZ Alkmaar didn’t play on the weekend so head into Thursday’s game well rested and with confidence flowing following their result against Spurs, which was their seventh win in their last nine games.

The Europa League is Tottenham’s last opportunity at silverware this season, and despite the lackluster performance in the first leg I expect Spurs at home to have too much for AZ Alkmaar, with a similar outcome to their meeting in the group stage.

Tottenham v AZ Alkmaar betting tips

Despite not being as prolific as he once was, Heung-Min Son remains Tottenham’s go-to man when things are tough. The Spurs skipper scored the equalizer on the weekend to earn a point for Spurs, with his 11th goal of the season.

Tottenham’s defence remains an issue for them with only one clean sheet in their past seven games, and without Vicario’s heroics in the first leg this game could’ve been out of reach already.
