Triple H and Shawn Michaels are not “washed” just yet.
They might be two of WWE‘s most iconic names, who dominated the professional wrestling scene during the late nineties and early noughties, but it seems they’re still making an effort to appeal to a new generation of fans.
Triple H and Shawn Michaels recreated an iconic skitWWE
In a video shared on NXT’s social media channels, the pair recreated their iconic DX State of the Union speech, addressing the developmental brand’s move to the CW Network.
Michaels begins the parody with a message to his “fellow Americans” and suggests he is working hard to “see eye-to-eye” with their key demographic – a younger audience.
Triple H, wearing his reading glasses, then weighs in and begins to throw around some terms that Gen Z, but not too many others, will be familiar with.
“From the hours of eight-to-ten pm, we will only use the words gyat, flex, slay, and bussin’. We will, however, also make a considered effort to use the words suss, drip, low-key, on god, ratio… and any other topical lingo or trending audio.”
As the video continues, Michaels accuses Triple H of being “so cringe” and suggests he “just can’t pass the vibe check”.
“You are so washed,” the Heartbreak Kid concludes.
The video, which soon went viral on social media, was a parody of their State of the Union speech from 1997.
All those years ago, D-Generation X had a famous skit which mocked an official presidential address, sharing the swear words that they were banned from saying during Monday Night Raw.
It became one of WWE‘s most iconic moments, and is still remembered by many fans to this day.
Triple H, now chief content officer, and Michaels, who oversees the creative aspects of NXT, clearly couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring their comedy skills to a new generation of viewers as they addressed the move to the CW Network.

“Whenever HBK and Triple H are involved, you know it’s going to be big,” one person commented on the X post.
Another fan shared their shock at the video, responding “No way i just heard Triple H say ‘brother you ate’ and ‘on god.’”
NXT’s debut on the CW Network last week (Tuesday, 1 October) delivered the largest audience for the weekly program in 12 months.
The five-year deal to bring the brand to the network was announced last November.
Last week’s episode saw Trick Williams regain the NXT Championship in a match against Ethan Page and also featured guest appearances by WWE Superstars CM Punk, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.
This week featured appearances from Intercontinental Champion Jey Uso, as well as the legendary Randy Orton.
