LEICESTER

The Ridler

The Ridler won the Norfolk back in 2022 and despite his great two-year-old campaign has seen his mark plummet since.

Getting a high overall rating of 107, when a respectable 5th of 5 at Deauville in the Group 1 Darley Prix Morny.

He clearly ran into some trouble since then and after two runs as a three-year-old went for a wind op, but that didn’t seem to help much.

By November he’d gone into 92 already before being gelded in January.

While he’s not won since that Royal Ascot run, he’s gone much closer since being reduced to a low of 71, a huge 36lbs drop over two years.

He’s run well twice in succession though including last time out in a tough class 2 handicap, when fifth in a field of 24.

Prior to that he’d also gone a slightly nearer third at Leicester on soft ground.

The move back down to 5f could be a plus and he’s certainly a danger back down in class too, just 1lb higher than when he was a nose second at Doncaster in August.

Abingworth

The ground is good at Huntingdon which is a rarity at the moment with soft ground almost everywhere else over the last week.

This Class 4 handicap chase at 3.30 looks competitive enough to have some value in it.

As Tears Go By doesn’t quite have the form yet and probably will be higher than 25/1 come the off, after a distant sixth on chase debut.

Sea Prince‘s last decent race over fences was back in July 2023 in a Class 3 handicap chase at Stratford, when beaten by nearly five lengths by Cracking Destiny and isn’t favoured over this distance.

Mix Of Clover has been pulled up on his two chases over this distance, and certainly seems to prefer anything closer to 2m.

Won nicely at Bangor last time out at a huge 33/1 price and as a result has some backing today but this ten-year-old needs to improve upped 4lb.

Maninsane could well be at a dangerous weight, dropped from 120 in November to 104 in just five races. There was a glimmer of hope at Market Rasen though, when third behind Scene One but his last three efforts are cause for concern still and best watched.

Abingworth looks worth backing though. The six-year-old went 21221 before unseating Caoilin Quinn when going well at Plumpton.

At that age where he can keep improving and make the most of this weight for trainers Gary & Josh Moore.

Miss Bodacious

Placed third on debut here back in January before following it up with a dead heat at Chelmsford.

Had a bit of a spring break before reappearing in June, when beating Cuban Melody by over two lengths.

As a result though, was upped a whopping 10lb and that’s seemingly proved excessive now.

She ran respectably at Thirsk last time out and warrants support now dropped another 2lb, returning to the all-weather and visor retained after improvements last time.
