Alex Pereira v Khalil Rountree Jr
Just three months on from his early second round stoppage win, Pereira is back in the octagon for his fourth Light Heavyweight title defence against Khalil Rountree Jr. The challenger arrives with a five-fight winning streak, with four coming by way of KO/TKO.
Both fighters having earned finishes in their last few bouts, which suggests that the first significant strike to land could well be the determining factor as to who takes the Light Heavyweight title home.
Rountree Jr. is the 19/5 underdog as he walks into the co-main event of UFC 307 in the hope of dethroning the current champion. With his four finishes coming inside three rounds, he will be confident in his ability to cause a shock upset come Saturday night and become only the 2nd man in the UFC to stop Pereira.
The champ struts into the Delta Center with three finishes from his last four victories, and will put on his title for a sixth time. Rightfully the 1/5 pre-fight favourite to retain his belt, with just that single Isreal Adesanya loss marking his UFC record, only two of his wins have gone to the judges’ scorecards.
Bet Boosts at bet365:
Alex Pereira to Win by KO, TKO or DQ + Under 1.5 Rounds @ 6/4
Under 3.5 Rounds + Fight Result: Khalil Rountree Jr. by KO,TKO, DQ or Submission @ 11/2
Raquel Pennington v Julianna Pena
It’s been a while out for Julianna Pena, but she returns as the number one ranked in the women’s Bantamweight division in attempt to reclaim the title off Raquel Pennington.
Pennington arrives into Utah with six wins since her defeat to Holly Holm back in January 2020, five of which all going the distance the other by way of submission.
Pennington is the pre-fight favourite at 10/17 and 11/10 by way of Decision or Technical Decision for just her third career title defence.
Despite her long break from the UFC, Pena is 7/5 to dethrone Pennington, 11/2 by submission which was the method of victory against Nunes the first time round and Sarah McMann, her previous two fights prior to her fifth loss.
Although Pena comes in as the underdog, her prolific record with submissions is nothing to be sniffed at. However, Pennington has shown how versatile she can be with her style especially her defence on submissions as she has not lost by way of submission in the UFC.
Bet Boosts at bet365:
Fight Result: Raquel Pennington + Fight to Go the Distance @ 6/5
Method of Victory: Julianna Pena by Submission + Under 3.5 Rounds @ 8/1
Jose Aldo v Mario Baustista
Jose Aldo is the second Brazilian on the main card, he arrives off a win fresh from May against Jonathan Martinez by way of Unanimous Decision after taking two years away from the Octagon.
His opponent Mario Bautista is looking to make it seven straight wins after overcoming Ricky Simon back in January.
Aldo’s long break from UFC has landed him 11/10 to win, 9/5 by Decision or Technical Decision. Over the span of his 20 year career Aldo has only managed to accept eight losses, one being the one of the quickest KO’s in UFC history back in 2015 to Conor McGregor.
Bautista on the other hand, arrives as favourite at 8/11 and 22/1 by way of Submission, which was his method of victory in three of his previous five fights.
The American Bantamweight has lost just twice in his UFC career, including his first fight on the roaster against Cory Sandhagen. Since then he has flourished in the space of three years now landing himself a battle with a former champ of the division.
