Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC ensured their target of retaining the title remains on course by overcoming CATDA on Thursday.

In the game played at Coffee Grounds, Bugolobi, the Royals edged the Kampala Regional League outfit 2-1.

Patrick Kaddu and an own goal by defender Martin Kikambwe guided Kitara FC to victory despite the hosts pulling one back.

Kaddu opened the scores in the 71st minute heading home from close range.

The hosts were able to level matters with six minutes from time but they conceded five minutes later with Kikambwe turning the ball into his own net.

Kitara FC join SC Villa and Total FC, Rwenzori Lions as teams that have already secured slots in the round of 16.
