Prota Cubing Club co-founders Shiloh Tandeka Tumwesigye (16) and Ethan Kigundu (17) addressed the media on Sunday, 27th October 2024 at Nob View Hotel Ntinda.

Both Kigundu and Tandeka are two talented young chess players and national youth champions who also represented Uganda at the 2023 Youth Chess Olympiad in the Netherlands.

“Prota Cubing Club was established to promote the skills, creativity and problem solving associated with speed cubing among Uganda’s youth. The competition represents a milestone not only for Prota Cubing Club, but also for the country which now had a formal body, the Uganda Cubing Association” Kigundu revealed.

According to Tandeka, the competition on Saturday will feature several categories: including the standard 3X3X3 Rubik’s cube and popular cube formats.

Competitors of varying skills levels and ages are encouraged to participate, making this event accessible to both novices and advanced cubers.

The prime goal is to create a platform where young Ugandans can develop their talents and engage in global intellectual sports. We believe this event will inspire a new generation of thinkers and innovators.
