The Uganda She Cranes was in bullish mood; humbling Eswatini 85-34 during the 2024 Africa Netball Cup at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund municipality, Namibia on Thursday, 12th December.
The technical team made two introductions with Mercy Batamuliza (wing attack) and Goalkeeper Faridah Kadondi for Joyce Nakibuule and Hanisha Muhammad respectively.
The rest of the team members were maintained Mary Nuba (goalkeeper shooter), Irene Eyaru (goalkeeper), Margaret Bagala (center) and Gloria Aya (wing defender).
Uganda was dominant throughout the four quarters: leading the opening stanza 27-03.
By half-time, the margin had stretched to 48-13 and it looked destined that Uganda was pushing for a killer to raise more goals.
After the third quarter, Uganda further stretched the lead to 63-25.
The half time score read in bold 85-34 for Uganda’s second victory at the continental netball fiesta.
On Wednesday, Uganda She Cranes overcame hosts Namibia 55-43 having suffered a slim shocking 49-50 defeat to Zimbabwe in the opener on Monday.
With two victories out of three, and an avalanche of goals, Uganda qualifies to the semi-finals.
Uganda has scored 189 goals in three goals and conceded 127 which leaves a difference of 62.
Eswatini has also lost 27-75 and 47-58 to Zimbabwe and Namibia in the earlier matches.
Uganda’s opponent in the semi-final will be determined after the final games in pool one that has leaders South Africa, Malawi, Zambia and Kenya.
