
Peace Kabasweka is a lady of few words. She comes of as an introvert.
Most of the times, she lets her swing do the talking.
The lady golfer from Fort Portal city has had a hectic schedule in the last couple of weeks, but one she believes will set her up nicely for what promises to be a busy 2025 season.

She competed at Leopard Creek Golf Club in South Africa where she finished 16th with scores of 86, 82 and 80 early this month.
“It wasn’t easy self-caddying under the scorching sun down there,” she says.
Her gross total of 248, which was matched by Tanzania’s Iddy Hussein Madina, was nonetheless respectable.
It was in Kigali, Rwanda where she established herself as a force to reckon with. Already a
famed name in region, the 2023 Uganda Open champion emerged as the best lady golfer with a
total of 321.

Unlike in South Africa, the ladies competed over four days having been grouped with male golfers.
Reflecting on her Rwanda accomplishment, Kabasweka credited it to her hours of dedication. “I am not yet the finished article yet,” she says.
“But I am all the same happy, very happy because this is a reward for the hard work I put in every day.”

She has set herself some targets to scale in 2025, and she is determined to meet them.
“I have a series of world amateur golf ranking events coming up and I want to really do well in
those particular ones,” Kabasweka, ranked 209 in the world, says. “I have the Entebbe Ladies
Open due, the Kenya Ladies Golf Union tournament and of course the Uganda Ladies Golf Open,” she adds.
Having missed the chance to defend her Uganda Ladies Open title, which Madina claimed at
Entebbe, Kabasweka will be among the favorites when the tournament is held at Lugazi Golf Hills and Country Club in August.

She sat out the Open owing to family obligations. Her parents were marking 50 years in marriage.
While Kabasweka’s swing is famed for its simplicity, her discipline and commitment have
elevated her as an elite golfer.
She is a role model for various young girls who are undertaking the game in the country.
