Ordering the ring was a smooth process thanks to Ultrahuman‘s free sizing kit, which was delivered straight to my door.

Once synced, the ring quickly tracks my movement, stress levels and HRV, offering a wealth of data that only deepened over the coming days.
From sleep stages to insights into my circadian rhythm, the ring provides tailored advice and actionable suggestions for me to improve my overall health.
With that said, the Ultrahuman isn’t without its flaws.
Within a day I noticed plenty of little scratches on the ring’s exterior and it initially fell short of the advertised six-day battery life.
However, following a quick firmware update, I was relieved to see the battery life greatly improve.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I can honestly say the Ultrahuman Ring AIR will be a product I use for years to come.
The sleek design, practicality and level of health tracking make this ring a great choice for anyone looking for a discreet but powerful alternative to a smartwatch.

I opted for the brand’s “Raw Titanium” colour and loved the appearance[/caption]
Ultrahuman Ring AIR, £329
Having ditched my Apple Watch around a year ago, I figured it was about time I opted for something a tad more practical.
Proclaimed as “the world’s most comfortable sleep tracker,” I opted for Ultrahuman’s Ring AIR device.
The Ultrahuman ring boasts accurate sleep, HRV, temperature and movement tracking, providing actionable suggestions to improve your health and useful wellness insights.
Before I ordered the ring, I had to measure which size was appropriate for me using a free ring sizing kit.
I ordered the brand’s “Raw Titanium” colour, as I usually wear silver jewellery and wanted to maintain the theme.
After placing my delivery order, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a stream of helpful information from the brand in my inbox while I awaited the device’s arrival.
Ultrahuman provided updates on how far along the ring was in production, how it looks in real-life scenarios and reminders of all its features (which really added to the excitement and anticipation).

Similar to the ring, the charger was small and compact[/caption]

Three days later, my sleek and stylish package arrived, and it was clear Ultrahuman was keen on making a strong first impression.
The packaging itself was reminiscent of what you might expect with Apple devices and inside was my new ring, setup instructions, a Type-C to Type-C cable, and the standard ring charger.
Without wasting any time, I charged my ring for the recommended 30 minutes and connected via the app.
I was surprised by just how light the ring felt (it weighs between 35g and 53g depending on the size) and after some minor adjusting it felt perfectly at home on my index finger.
The app required a little time to begin collating data. Within the first few hours, I was inundated with information regarding my movement, current stress levels, and HRV (heart rate variability).
Over the next few days, I unlocked several other features, including detailed insights into my sleep, recovery, sleep debt, and even my circadian rhythm.
The sleep and recovery statistics were amongst the most impressive features I’ve experienced from a health technology perspective.
For the nights when I slept poorly, the app would suggest changes I could make over the following nights to improve my score.
However, before I go ahead and proclaim the Ultrahuman smart ring to be the best thing since sliced bread, there are a few shortcomings I need to highlight.

While the Ultrahuman Ring AIR does look great on, it does scratch easily[/caption]
Ultrahuman Ring AIR, £329
The first issue I encountered with the Ultrahuman was how easily it scratched.
Within 24 hours of taking the ring out of the box, I noticed some small scratches on the exterior.
This didn’t bother me too much, (I don’t mind when the rest of my jewellery isn’t pristine), but I can see why this might frustrate others.
The second issue I experienced with the Ultrahuman was the battery life.
With the brand advertising “up to six days,” I was looking forward to rarely charging the device. However, I was a little miffed to see my battery drop from 100% to 40% within 24 hours of a full charge.
After a bit of research, I learned that the Ultrahuman’s firmware doesn’t update automatically. Following a quick update, I was relieved to find my battery life had improved significantly.
Scratches and initial battery issues aside, I’ve been blown away by the Ultrahuman Ring AIR and all of its features.
The practicality, style and depth of data this ring provides are a breath of fresh air, and for me, it offers a vast improvement on any smartwatches I’ve tried in the past.
Ultrahuman Smart Ring: the verdict
While the Ultrahuman has a few minor shortcomings, such as its susceptibility to scratches and its initial battery life, these issues don’t detract from the overall performance in the slightest.
The quick firmware update resolved the battery problem in a flash, and the impressive range of features more than made up for any initial hiccups.
With detailed sleep insights, stress tracking and much more, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR is a sleek and innovative health-tech device that I’ll undoubtedly wear for years to come.

What does the Ultrahuman ring track?
The Ultrahuman Ring AIR tracks a range of metrics relating to health and general well-being.
These metrics include:
- Sleep – Including sleep efficiency, temperature, restfulness, total sleep, HR drop, timing, sleep stages, and HRV (heart rate variability).
- Movement – Including steps, total active & resting calories, active hours, workout frequency and workouts.
- Recovery – Including resting heart rate, skin temperature, 7-day HRV, average trends.
- Stress – Including stress timeline (every 15 mins), stress rhythm and overall stress score.
- Caffeine window – Daily caffeine permissible window.
- Circadian Rhythm – Daily circadian phase alignment.
You can even add additional free and paid PowerPlugs to track things such as Social Jetlag, Cycle & Ovulation, Vitamin D exposure, Screentime, Pregnancy Insights, Smart Alarms, Cardio Adaptability and AFib Detection.
Can you wear the Ultrahuman Ring AIR in the shower?
Yes, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR can be worn in the shower because of its water-resistant properties.
The ring has a water resistance rating of up to 100 meters, allowing it to be worn when showering, swimming or doing other water-based activities.
While the ring is water resistant, it’s not recommended to allow the ring to be submerged for more than 12 hours at a time.
Can an Ultrahuman Ring wake you up?
Yes and no. While there is a feature within the app for Ultrahuman to wake you up, this doesn’t come directly from the ring, and instead it prompts an alarm on your phone.
You essentially give the app a time you have to be awake for, and while judging your sleep patterns, the alarm will sound depending on when you’re most awake during a 30-minute window beforehand.
I found this feature quite useful to avoid the any groggy feelings that came from my normal alarm waking me up during my deep sleep cycle.
Is the Ultrahuman Ring worth it?
I personally found the Ultrahuman Ring to be well worth it, due to the level of insights it provided.
As someone whose energy suffers from peaks and troughs throughout the day, I found the Ultrahuman Ring particularly helpful, as it highlighted exactly why I might be feeling the way I do.
The app even offered actionable insights for me to try to improve certain scores related to my recovery, sleep, and stress levels.
The only downside I found with the Ultrahuman Ring is that it didn’t really tick the boxes I needed from a workout perspective.
As someone who spends a lot of time in the weight room, it was neither convenient nor safe for me to wear the ring during those particular workouts, so I did have some gaps in my data.
Is there a monthly fee for Ultrahuman Ring?
There are no reoccurring or initial subscription fees required to get started with Ultrahuman.
Unlike other products on the market, Ultrahuman is completely free to use with the majority of its content ready from the get go.
With that said, the brand is introducing several paid PowerPlugs, but these are completely optional and not essential to use the ring’s core features.
