The first edition of the Kakooza Shafik Memorial gala will take center stage on Saturday, 11^th January 2025 at Kataka playground in Nkumba, Katabi Town council, Wakiso district.

The competition will have different under age teams in the categories of U-7, U-10, U-12, U-15, U-17 and U-20 (open), all based on the physical appearance.

Some of the confirmed teams for this gala include; Mungu Soccer Academy, Nkumba Preparatory Soccer Academy, Audax Soccer Academy, Garuga Stars, Mpala Soccer Academy, ABC, Kabaale, Kawafu, Ubuntu Soccer Academy, Emmanuel Soccer Academy, Entebbe City Lads Soccer Academy, Mivule Soccer Academy, Kikajo Soccer Academy, Fimbo Soccer Academy, Garuga Soccer Academy, Mazowezo, All Times Soccer Academy, Five Stars Soccer Academy, Catalonia Soccer Academy, Pentagon Soccer Academy, Down Town, Healers Soccer Academy and Lake View Secondary School.

Registration per category is Ug.Shs 100,000 and the process is still on-going with the willing people advised to call 0763232977 or 0702308878.

For starters, Shafik Kakooza was a celebrated former coach and football administrator who owned Entebbe Five Stars Football Club and Academy.

He had a soft touch for developing young talents and organized the famous Entebbe Holiday camp for a period of one decade.

Kakooza died in late 2023 after a short period of illness.
