Uganda Premier League Leaders Vipers SC ensured they sent early warnings as the second round got underway on Tueaday.

The Venoms who had a remarkable run in the first round, ensured they continued from where they stopped, brushing URA FC aside.

In the game played at St. Mary’s Stadium, second half goals from Allan Okello and Enock Luyima guided the Venoms to a 2-0 victory.

Vipers SC handed their new recruit Isaac Ogwang from Police FC his debut, starting as the lead striker.

Indeed the home side started the better side, making attack after attack. This forced URA FC into making unneccessary tackles forcing Bright Vuni and Laban Tibiita to be booked in the opening quarter of the game.

Vuni was eventually substituted in the 18th minute for fear of earning a second booking.

The first realistic scoring opportunity arrived in the 20th minute when Luyima attempted from distance by URA FC goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa tipped his effort over.

Thereafter, the game oscillated with either side getting half chances but none could find the outlet.

Ogwang sustained an injury three minutes to the break and had a lengthy medical attention but he could not carry on. He was replaced by Kenneth Kimera at the start of the second half.

Okello nearly fired Vipers into the lead three minutes after restart but he was denied by Omedwa.

Kimera made impact by winning a penalty in the 54th minute when he was brought down in the area.

A wall pass between Junior Yunus Sentamu and AbdulKarim Watambala found the latter who was tripped down by Hudu Mulikyi in the area and referee Shamirah Nabadda awarded a penalty.

Okello took the result penalty to break the deadlock and fire the Venoms into the lead.

The Venoms became rampant, making several inroads with Kimera and Sentamu coming close to find the second goal.

It was youngster Luyima who doubled the advantage for the Venoms with a screamer from about 40 yards.

The left back was at the end of Kimera’s lay up outside the box and hit the ball with full force into the top right corner to send the fans into wild celebrations.

The result means Vipers SC stay top on 37 points and now open up a four-point gap on NEC FC who play KCCA FC on Thursday. URA FC on the other hand drop to fifth on 24 points.
