Vipers SC moved joint top of the Uganda Premier League table after overcoming Wakiso Giants FC on Thursday.
In the game played at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, the Venoms scored a goal in either half to secure maximum points.
Allan Okello fresh from helping Uganda Cranes to earn a double over South Sudan in the AFCON 2025 Qualifiers tucked home the opener in the 34th minute from the spot while skipper Milton Karisa doubled the advantage for the visitors later on.
The game came at the time when Vipers SC reportedly parted ways with coach Nikola Kavazovic, although the club is yet to issue any official communication to that effect.
It should be noted that the Serbian tactician also missed the game against Express shortly before the international break.
John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda who recently came on board as assistant coach has been in charge of the two games.
In today’s game, he maintained the same team that started against Express FC nearly two weeks ago.
Okello fired the Venoms in front with a well taken penalty after goalkeeper James Alitho had fouled Karisa in the box.
Karisa too got onto the scoreboard in the 64th minute capitalizing on failure by defender Ambrose Arinda failed to clear the ball away.
Okello started the attack on the right and his cut back pass was intercepted by Arinda only to gift the ball to Yunus Sentamu who teed up Karisa to drill home.
Victory takes Vipers joint top on the table with ten points same as KCCA FC who play UPDF FC on Saturday.
Wakiso Giants FC on the other hand remain 8th on seven points from five games.
