Wednesday racing tips
- KEMPTON
4.22: One Horse Town 6/4 (1pt)
7.30: Mr Baloo 10/3 (1pt) - LINGFIELD
3.42: Rajeko 5/2 (1pt)
One Horse Town
Showed potential at around 1m before in both Ireland and now in Britain but really showed some strong signs that the step up in trip is the route for this horse.
Finished strongly at 25/1 last time out in a Class 4 handicap coming from almost last to just grab third over 1m3f.
Now at 1m4f there’s more potential for this gelding to go on and assert himself in almost the same way at the same track, while also going down in grade.
Mr Baloo
I was hoping to find a strong angle for a bigger price in this race but there are too many uncertainties and negatives attached to backing them.
He’s Got Game is an interesting one for Hugo Palmer but coming back for the first time since June is a big ask.
More Than A Feelin will also have to improve/progress after placing 4th of six here last month.
Each of the front three in the market who are essentially 7/2 co-favourites, all appeal more so hence their prices in comparison with all three boasting a course and distance victory before.
Patch’s Bond won comfortably back in November here before being stepped up again to 1m4f in January, only to be denied by a short head.
However, I think Mr Baloo despite also being four, has much more experience and is confirmed to be this level whereas Patch’s Bond may still need a run or two before you can confidently pit him against Mr Baloo.
Cheltenham Festival tips
Rajeko
Has the form over 6f to suggest he’s right up there with the favourite.
He’s also shown great potential over the step up to 7f, placing behind Al Qudra at Al Uqda in February which could be a sign of much more to come especially as he finished ahead of horses like Yaroogh.
Exciting prospect for the in-form Michael Bell under Hector Crouch, who’s been enjoying plenty of winners over the last couple of weeks.
