Gary Lineker has revealed where fans can expect to see him following his BBC exit.

The former England striker also teased which rival broadcaster he has previously held talks with in the past.

However, Lineker told fans they will not see him on TV once he leaves his role as Match of the Day host this summer.

Instead, the presenter plans to focus on his booming podcast empire with Goalhanger Podcasts.

The company currently produce 13 podcasts, including Lineker’s show The Rest Is Football alongside Alan Shearer and Micah Richards.

Goalhanger Podcasts are also home to The Rest Is History and The Rest Is Politics, with their shows boasting a total of more than 40million monthly downloads.

Podwatch, which tracks podcasts using data from iTunes and Spotify, rank their shows in the top four spots in the UK.

As a result, Lineker’s focus once he leaves Match of the Day is on his podcast.

He told FourFourTwo: “I don’t think you’ll see me doing much football, apart from the podcast.

“I’ll do the odd thing, but I don’t think you’ll see me appearing regularly on another channel.”

Lineker did admit, though, that he has previously held talks with Sky Sports but chose to remain loyal to the BBC.

The 64-year-old added: “We’ve had talks with Sky at various points, but I always wanted to stick with the BBC.

“I could have earned a lot more, though I know I’ve been well paid anyway, obviously.

“I’ve had offers to go elsewhere but I just loved being with the BBC, and also how it helps everything else you do.

“It’s not only the kudos, the audience is much bigger. More people still watch Match of the Day than probably the biggest live game on Sundays.

“Also, I’m quite loyal. I’ve had the same guy cut my hair for 40 years, the same guy training me in the gym for 30 years, the same agent since I was 18…”

Lineker will step down as Match of the Day host at the end of the current season.

However, he is set to remain with the BBC until his contract expires following next summer’s World Cup.

As a result, fans can still expect to see him on coverage of the tournament as well as the 2025/26 FA Cup.

Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan will form a three-person presenting line-up to replace Lineker from next season.
